Better Carbon
Elegant plant-based chemistry from pine trees
Upcycled terpenes sourced from responsibly managed pine forests as a byproduct of the pulp and paper industry are the main feedstock for Citropol polymers.
Citropol polymers function as emollients in cosmetic and personal care applications, displacing silicones, which are heavily polluting, and other biobased emollients. These biobased alternatives are often derived from palm or coconut oil, which contribute to deforestation and habitat loss. Citropol introduces a new, sustainable feedstock to the value chain.
Managed forests are critical to climate change mitigation
Creating demand for byproducts derived from managed forests ensures that managed forests remain economically viable, and therefore a valuable tool in the fight against climate change.
Forest-derived feedstocks from responsibly managed forests help preserve biodiversity, store carbon, and help create livelihoods for rural communities.
Repurposing industrial crops for specialty materials
Crop-derived oils have lower carbon footprints than petrochemical feedstocks and promote rural economies, both domestically and abroad. P2 uses oils purposed for industrial application, such as using biodiesel for specialty chemicals instead of fuel.
P2’s PIOz process technology converts crop oils into high value specialty chemicals for flavor and fragrance, performance materials, and crop care industries.
