OpenScreen is an open-source app for Windows which can record your PC screen and allow you to edit the recordings directly from the program itself, offering professional results. The app does not require a subscription, nor are there watermarks placed on the final videos. It can be considered a direct alternative to Screen Studio, but much simpler, more accessible, and completely free for personal and commercial use. As a result, OpenScreen is the ideal tool for creating tutorials or any type of video where you need to record your PC screen, with professional results.
Full-screen or specific app recordings
In OpenScreen you choose whether you want to capture the entire screen or just a specific app, ensuring that you can record a tutorial while staying focused on a program without distractions from the rest of the desktop. When you open the app, a small floating window will appear where you can start recording. The app detects all monitors displaying content, as well as any open windows, allowing you to select everything you want to record directly.
Add zoom, shadows and much more to your videos
After you have recorded your content, OpenScreen takes you to the editing screen to adjust everything to your liking. For example, you can add a zoom effect at a specific time, setting its duration, position, and size. You can also crop the recorded video to remove parts you don't want to show, and then choose backgrounds such as solid images with the feel of macOS wallpapers, gradients, your own photos, or even a motion blur effect to make movements smoother. You can overlay annotations like text, arrows, or images at specific moments, allowing you to explain or highlight certain elements directly on the recording. After recording, you can trim the excess and export in various formats and resolutions as required.
No installer
OpenScreen is portable, which means that you don't have to install it in order to use it. Just run the file and the program will open directly.
Download OpenScreen and start recording screen videos with zoom, custom backgrounds, and annotations, all completely free of charge and with no subscriptions.
