Founded in 1997 by Russell J. Kendzior, the National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is: “to aid in the prevention of slips, trips, and falls through education, research and standards development.”

  • Standards

    The NFSI has authored standards since 2001 aimed at preventing slips, trips, and falls. In 2005 the NFSI Board of Directors established the NFSI B101 committee on slip, trip and fall prevention which it continues to oversee. In 2020, the NFSI became an independent SDO and was awarded organizational membership in the Society for Standards Professionals (SES).
