Above the Fold

I started The Daily Iowan‘s rebranded weekly podcast “Above the Fold” which dives into the big story of print edition. I serve as the host and producer of the podcast. The goal is to create more multimedia collaboration with print stories and highlight project-style reporting while having a digital first focus. Below are just a few episodes.

Press Box Banter

I co-produce The Daily Iowan’s sports podcast “Press Box Banter.” My responsibilities include communicating with the hosts about booking guests with a connection to Iowa athletics, audio mixing, and the managing the structure of a conversational podcast to keep our audience’s interest in mind. In the November 13, 2020 episode I talked about my ongoing coverage of Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District race. More than a week after Election Day, the candidates were separated by just a few dozen votes and the race was too close to call.

In the October 9, 2020 episode I talked about my story on what schools in Iowa City are doing to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus in classrooms and how much they’ve spent on protective equipment. 

In the October 23, 2020 episode I described what the virtual classroom looks like for students and teachers in the Iowa City Community School District.

In the October 30, 2020 episode I talked about my project on  a group of women raising awareness on how some breast implants can cause cancer.

In the September 4, 2020 episode I explained why an anonymous group on campus called for students, faculty, and staff members to participate in a “sick-out.”
