Our Practice
Expertise is in our DNA
Formed in 1998, Manual Therapy International PS, PLLC (MTI Physical Therapy) is locally owned by three practicing physical therapists. Disenchanted by the corporatization and high volume-based approach of American health care, MTI forged a new patient care model based on low volume, leading edge clinical skill and clinical training. Inspired through clinical mentoring and education, including subsequent certification from the Nordic Group of Specialists in Manual Therapy, Jim Rivard, Brian Power and Scott Olson established a practice model to emulate a Scandinavian style of care that has since become the leading evidence-based approach to orthopedic manual physical and sports therapy. Pioneering the 1:1 model of care, all MTI clinics schedule 45-minute patient visits entirely with a highly training physical therapist. We have elected to avoid the industry standard of scheduling 2 or more patients per patient visit block, as well as avoiding the utilization of athletic trainers and physical therapy assistants/aides, to deliver patient care. The greatest compliment, over 20 years later, is to see this model duplicated in other clinical practices across the country and around the world.
Why Choose MTI?
Because we Can and we Care
We do things differently with proven success!
A dedicated visit delivered only by a physical therapist shouldn’t have made us different, but it did. MTI Physical Therapy is a company started by three physical therapists in 1998 with a vision of creating a practice that was unlike any other in healthcare. Ultimately, the concept was a simple one: attract the best minds in the industry, create a work environment that fosters optimal care, offer advanced training in orthopedic manual therapy with the best evidence and maintain a leading edge mentality within the profession. By pioneering the practice of 1:1 care where our physical therapists dedicate the entire 45-minute visit with one patient, compared to two patients per visit block more typically seen in our profession, we provide our highly trained and licensed therapists the time and tools to get it done. Today, over 20 years later, with six clinics, MTI has managed to do just that. Our 1:1 Care practice model has been recognized nationally, receiving the Ascend Practice of the Year Award from WebPT.
Community Involvement
As members of our community, we are all interested in giving back by supporting our local neighborhood organizations. MTI Physical Therapy employees are regularly involved in education, local charitable events and volunteerism. We are also sensitive to our neighbors from afar and support national and international relief efforts including the following organizations or events:
In Memory
JEANNIE MARIE BERNSTEIN

Jeannie Bernstein was a member of the MTI Physical Therapy family for several years, serving as our Human Resources Manager. Jeannie passed away on November 4, 2013 after a heroic battle with cancer. We were truly blessed to have not only known her, but to have had her serve as a vital part of our company. She transformed MTI on the HR side and helped us to move our company to the next level. We miss her every day.
In her memory, we have renamed the Distinguished Service Award to the Jeannie Bernstein Distinguished Service Award. Jeannie was the first recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in 2012, so we felt it was fitting to keep her memory alive in this way.
