Who We Are

MINDSOURCE Brain Injury Network is Colorado’s lead state agency on brain injury. We connect people to the support, resources and information they need, no matter when their injury happened or where they are in their journey.

Our Story

MINDSOURCE operates under the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) and has been supporting a better future for brain injury survivors for over 25 years. We are a hub, a connector. We bring the right people to the table — researchers, providers, professionals, people with lived experience, caregivers and community organizations. We believe people living with brain injuries deserve respect, choice, support and independence, and no one should have to navigate that journey alone.

What We Do

As Colorado’s designated lead state agency on brain injury, we provide leadership, public education and coordination of brain injury services statewide. We don’t deliver every service directly, but we help the right people connect with the right resources.

Colorado's Lead State Agency on Brain Injury

We coordinate Colorado’s statewide system of care for brain injuries. We connect survivors, caregivers and professionals to the resources and research that lead to better outcomes.

Colorado Brain Injury Trust Fund Board

We manage the Colorado Brain Injury Trust Fund, which funds client services, education and research grants. The Trust Fund is supported by surcharges on DUI/DWAI convictions, speeding violations and helmet violations.

What Makes MINDSOURCE Different?

A Hub, Not a Hierarchy

Our strength comes from who we bring to the table. We collaborate with researchers, providers, survivors, behavioral health therapists, educators, criminal justice professionals and community organizations. The expertise of MINDSOURCE is the sum of its network: the most comprehensive brain injury ecosystem in Colorado.

Support Across the Lifespan

Many people don’t seek support until 7 to 12 years after a brain injury. Others experience brain injuries in childhood that go unrecognized for decades. We don’t turn anyone away based on when their injury happened or how long ago they sought help. The door to support is always open.

Lived Experience at the Table

With half of our Advisory Council comprised of individuals with lived experience, our work is rooted in the belief that those most affected by brain injury must be the ones to lead its solutions. By centering these perspectives, we ensure that every decision, resource and program is built in direct partnership with the community it serves.

Free, Accessible Brain Injury Tools for Everyone

We provide free, open-source tools, including the Online Brain Injury Screening and Support System (OBISSS), educational guides and psychoeducational group materials. These resources help people understand whether brain injury may be affecting their lives and what to do next.

How We Help

MINDSOURCE does not provide direct services. We connect people to the right resources, fund community and research grants, provide training and technical assistance for professionals and work to improve brain injury policy and support across the state.

If you or a loved one needs direct support, we partner with the Brain Injury Association of Colorado (BIAC), which provides free, community-based services.

Our Mission and Vision

Everything we do at MINDSOURCE is guided by our mission to improve brain injury support across Colorado and our vision of a better quality of life for everyone affected by brain injury.

Our Mission

To lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive, coordinated system of up-to-date research, services and funding for programs that support survivors and their families, helping increase awareness of and lessen stigma around brain injury.

Our Vision

To advocate for a future in Colorado where anyone living with or affected by brain injury has access to the person-centered care and quality of life they deserve, with independence and choice in how they move forward.

Our Team

MINDSOURCE is a small team, but every staff member shows up with full commitment. We provide timely resources, quality trainings, transparent grant processes and reliable support — all in service of the people and communities we are here to support.
