Ted Messner has been working for his family company, Messner Flooring since 2003, and became a full-time employee in 2013. Throughout his tenure, he has managed both commercial bid work and negotiated contracts, with a particular focus on nonprofit projects. Ted values working with long-term clients, as it allows him to build lasting relationships, understand their needs deeply, and connect with them on a personal level. Outside the office, Ted enjoys hiking with his wife Candace and their two dogs, Mick and Maddy.
Mike Himes serves as the Residential Vice President at Messner Flooring, having started in Spring 2024. With a robust 23-year background in retail leadership, Mike has consistently led high-performing, customer-focused teams across both big box and specialty retail organizations. For the past 11 years, Mike has made Rochester his home, where he lives with his wife. His passion for enhancing the customer experience is at the core of his professional ethos, driving him to deliver excellence in every aspect of his work at Messner Flooring.
Greg is Vice President of Messner Flooring. His father, Ben Messner, founded Messner Flooring in 1962, and in 1985, Greg joined his dad and brother Peter in helping to run the family business. Today, Greg is the face of the Pittsford Messner Flooring store, and Vice President of the business that has grown into 3 locations in Rochester, NY. Greg enjoys being in the Pittsford showroom helping customers find the perfect flooring. He truly loves the connections he makes with people, helping generations of clients and families over the last 35 years!
Lisa joined the Messner Flooring team in 2004 and has been fostering employee satisfaction ever since. She manages the office, bills, payroll, health & insurance plans for all employees. Lisa is proud to work for Messner Flooring. She says, “I’m glad we’re an ethical company, and that we put out a good product and do good work. I’m proud of our great reputation. And I enjoy helping our employees.”
As a Residential Operations Coordinator, Jenifer places orders, makes sure our product catalogues are up to date, and confirms deliveries. She also assists with the commercial side, handling part of invoicing and billing. She keeps the office energized and organized. Jenifer has been a great addition to the Messner Team since spring 2021.
Jon started at the company in 1986 as an installer and joined Messner Flooring full-time in 2008. He started training with his dad at 16, who also worked for Messner for 25 years! As one of our commercial project managers, he truly feels that Messner doesn’t just “measure,” we assess everything needed for the job. “There’s a lot more to preparing to install a floor correctly than wielding a measuring tape.” Jon earned his Master’s from CFI and uses that knowledge and expertise to make certain that everything has been anticipated for a successful installation. Jon loves his job because every project is unique, with its own requirements, making every day different. In his free time, you can find him throwing a cornhole bag, somewhere.
Doug has been our “Go To” man on the commercial side since joining the Messner team in 2014. He provides strong office and warehouse inventory support. We entrust him with all commercial submittals, order placements and billing. He also coordinates all our commercial install crews. His favorite thing about Messner is the collaboration that goes on within the organization and our partners in the field.
Erin has been a lively addition to the Messner Flooring Team since summer 2021. With a background and degree in commercial Interior Design, she brings unique insights and ideas to the company. She is immersed in all aspects of our commercial jobs, from proper assessments & measuring to client specific flooring selection and installation satisfaction. She strengthens relationships with long term customers coordinates jobs with the project managers making sure scopes and details of each job are accounted for. Seeing the positive transformations in the community is what really drives and excites her.
Doug is one of our commercial project managers who has 25 years’ experience in the flooring industry. He keeps our crews well prepared and on schedule. He enjoys being a part of a small family business, that cares about the community and all the jobs we work on, big or small. Not only is he a great father to two amazing girls, but some may also consider him scratch golfer and bocce connoisseur.
Dan joined Messner Flooring in 2025 and supports daily warehouse operations, including stain color matching, deliveries, cutting carpet, and order fulfillment. With a background in warehouse work and nine years in the U.S. Army, he brings strong attention to detail and reliability to the team. Outside of work, he enjoys weightlifting, football, model building, and concerts.

Jessica is a talented, certified designer and sales consultant. With a background and expertise in interior design, and her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Industrial Design, Jessica is passionate about creating spaces in the home for everyone to enjoy. Her favorite part of the job is helping customers find the perfect flooring for their home and needs, with the hopes of finding something beautiful they hadn’t expected to find! She recently purchased a new home she will need to update and renovate, just like her customers.
Andrew has over 5 years of experience as a flooring specialist. He is especially interested in the technical specification of flooring, and helps customers find the best product for their homes, at the best value!
Marcus is a dedicated sales consultant who brings both creativity and expertise to every project. Before joining Messner Flooring, he honed his skills on the sales team at Abode, specializing in home décor, furniture, and the restoration of mid-century and Scandinavian vintage pieces. His background gives him a keen eye for design and detail, which he now applies to helping clients choose flooring that elevates their spaces. A graduate of RIT with a degree in Fine Art Photography, Marcus has a strong appreciation for aesthetics and craftsmanship. Outside of work, you’ll often find him enjoying game nights with friends, attending Rochester’s summer festivals, or spending time with his dog, Patch.
With more than 20 years of hands-on experience installing hard surface flooring alongside his father, Billy brings both expertise and a personal touch to every project. Having known the Messner family since childhood, he values being part of a small, family-owned company where relationships matter just as much as results.
Billy takes pride in guiding customers through the process of preparing for new flooring, ensuring they feel confident and excited about the transformation of their homes. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, and he’s a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan.
Peter Messner, former President of Messner Flooring, dedicated over 40 years to the company, shaping it into a leader in commercial and retail flooring. Starting in 1977 as his father Ben Messner’s first employee, he gained hands-on experience in estimating, project management, and operations. By the mid-80s, he took over business operations, and in 1987, after his father’s passing, he purchased the company, leading it through decades of growth.
Under Peter’s leadership, Messner Flooring thrived, maintaining its commitment to quality craftsmanship and customer service. His impact continues to influence the company’s success today.
