THIS JOURNAL IS ONLY PERSONAL RANDOMNESS & THEREFORE

FRIENDS ONLY!

ME: 26. German. Female. Engaged. Open-minded. Honest. Straightforward. Helpful. Sometimes difficult. Not a social butterfly, but not a loner either.

MY FANDOMS: Viggorli (writing/reading/and.so.on). Doctor Who (watching). Torchwood (watching).

MY FRIENDSLIST: Consists of people I know and trust. I'm not adding people I don't recognize the name of, and I'm not adding back if there is no comment informing me I've been added.

MY JOURNAL: Mostly personal stuff. Hardly ever filtered, but usually locked. Free of drama and gossip. This goes for my reading filter, too. I won't add people whose journal consists to a large amount of either, and depending on the drama/gossip, I will remove people from my reading filter so I won't have to see it on my flist anymore. I'm quick about that.

MY FILTERS: I filter my journal for reading purposes; currently into five groups. People (personal journals I regularly read), Fics (anything to do with fiction), Icon communities (self-explanatory), Icon challenges (self-explanatory), TV communities (to stay updated on the shows I watch).
I don't believe in filtering people out from reading my posts, so I don't do it. Exceptions to the rule exist at times, but they won't ever have malicious reasons.

I'm only adding people back I know. Please read my userinfo beforehand, and then let me know in a comment to prevent me from taking ages to see that you've done so. Thanks!

spoiler
1. A remark which reveals important plot elements from books or movies, thus denying the reader (of the article) the proper suspense when reading the book or watching the movie.
2. Any remark which telegraphs the solution of a problem or puzzle, thus denying the reader the pleasure of working out the correct answer.

I strongly dislike spoilers. The more I care about a subject, the more I try my best to not be spoiled. For me, anything more than a very general casting spoiler ends out robbing me of some of my enjoyment of the show/movie. The more I'm spoiled, the more likely I am to be completely indifferent about a show/movie, or, worse, ending up disliking the show/movie, without it having to do anything with the actual content of said show/movie.

When I watch something, I want to be shocked, to be surprised, to be excited. I want to sit at the edge of my seat, biting my nails (okay, maybe not literally). I want to squirm and suppress the urge to go to the loo, because I need to know what happens next. I want to laugh at the funny bits, cry at the sad ones, be afraid at the scary ones. If I'm spoiled, I'm not doing any of these things. I'm simply watching it without any reactions but maybe a tiny smile at something that ought to have made me laugh outright.

I only seek out spoilers if I want to stop watching a show. It works like a charm, too. Spoil me for one episode, I lose interest. Spoil me for two, and I won't care to watch anymore.

I was spoiled at the last moment for last night's episode of Doctor Who, and I'm sure it was a great episode. I was very excited about it before, but when I watched it, my reaction amounted to "meh" and "blah." Excitement on the scale of 1 to 10? Minus 5.

So, I normally don't say this on my journal, because I actually have a flist that's great about putting spoilers behind cuts where they belong (and thank you SO much for being this considerate), but if ANYONE spoils me for the remaining two Doctor Who episodes, I will be mad. I'm maybe two hours behind those lucky enough to watch it on the tv, so I don't think it's too much to ask to keep any reactions or informations under a cut for that long and to not talk about it on YIM when there's the chance I'm in the same chat.

On that note, I'm probably going to just sign out of all messengers and not refresh any internet page but the one community I get my download link from from the moment DW starts until I've watched it.

Never thought I had to be this paranoid about it, but experiences shows otherwise :/

On a completely different subject, JOIN found_my_keys and sign up if you're a VigOrli writer! Only a couple of days left, and while we already have some great writers signed up, there should be more!

100 LotR icons -- icon battle
icon battle
deadwillwalk vs. mesnica

~
~

This post is the result of a collaboration between deadwillwalk and mesnica. With this icon battle as model, we chose 25 LotR screencaps each, coming to 50 screencaps in total. Each of us cropped those 50 screencaps, and then we exchanged the icon bases. The battle was to work with bases which have been cropped by another person, and as our icon styles differ, it's very interesting to see the finished icons.

The table includes the finished icons, the bases, and links to the original screencaps. Because of that, this is a very image heavy post, with 100 icons plus 100 bases!
