Reporting a Concern
We value all feedback about our work, our members, and our leadership. MenEngage Alliance is committed to responding to concerns and complaints in ways that center the needs, rights, and safety of those impacted — directly or indirectly — by harm, misconduct, or Code of Conduct violations.
This page explains how one can report a concern or complaint regarding any person or entity affiliated with MenEngage Alliance.
We recognize that accountability is an ongoing process. Our systems are designed to be survivor-centered, transparent, and responsive, and we regularly improve them based on lessons learned.
What Can Be Reported?
You may report:
- Harm or misconduct you experienced or witnessed.
- Concerns about members of the Alliance, both individuals and organizations, MenEngage-affiliated working groups or committees, or MenEngage-affiliated networks.
- Breaches of our Core Principles or Code of Conduct.
- Concerns relating to individual behaviours, systemic issues, leadership conduct, or organizational culture.
If you are reporting on behalf of someone else, please discuss with them first and obtain their consent, to avoid exposing them to further harm or risk.
Options to Report a Complaint
We want to offer you several options for reporting a complaint in terms of how and where (to whom) to send it.
How:
- You can submit a complaint anonymously or with your name. Also, you can file a complaint using an online form or downloading a form which you can fill out and then submit by email.
Where:
- You can submit a complaint directed at the relevant focal persons per regional MenEngage network, or to the focal persons at the Global MenEngage level. Only for exceptional cases, you could submit a complaint to an independent reviewer.
Following we explain all these options.
Reporting to the Regional MenEngage level
If the complaint involves someone that is associated with a regional or country-level network of the Alliance, we suggest reporting directly to the respective regional focal point(s). Given our decentralized, bottom-up approach, this is how we are organized for handling such reports.
Your complaints will be received by one of the following focal MenEngage Regional Network Focal Points for complaints:

Reporting to the Global MenEngage level
You may report to the Global Secretariat of the Alliance in any of the following situations:
- The matter involves Global Secretariat staff, Board members, leaders of the regional networks or consultants with the Global Secretariat.
- You are not comfortable reporting at the regional level.
- You did not receive a response or were dissatisfied with a regional-level process.
Global Complaint Form (Online Form)
Complaints submitted here will be reviewed by:
- Co-Chair of the Global Board: Samitha Sugathimala (she, her).
- Co-Directors of the Global Secretariat: Joni van de Sand (she her) & Laxman Belbase (he, him)
- Focal points for complaints from the Global Secretariat (Oswaldo Montoya (he,him) email hidden; JavaScript is required and Paul Ruban (he,him) email hidden; JavaScript is required
If you submit a report to the Global Secretariat, and it would be more appropriate for your regional network to handle it, we will inform you and ask your consent before transferring the case.
If you prefer to submit your complaint directly by email to the focal person, use this Complaint Submission Form (Downloadable)
Complete the form and send it to email hidden; JavaScript is required or to the focal points listed above (Oswaldo Montoya (he,him) email hidden; JavaScript is required or Paul Ruban (he,him) email hidden; JavaScript is required) via email. You may also write your own report if that is more appropriate or preferred.
Reporting to Independent Reviewer (last resort)
If you are not comfortable reporting to the regional focal points or the Global Secretariat listed above, you may use an external, independent reviewer who is not part of MenEngage (to avoid conflicts of interest).
Please choose this channel only when you have reasonable concerns about impartiality or safety with the regional or global channels — for example, if:
- the person(s) involved oversee or closely work with the focal points,
- you fear retaliation or do not feel safe using internal channels, or
- you previously reported through a regional/global channel and did not receive a response.
Whenever possible, we encourage using the regional or global reporting options first.
