Lebanon

MenEngage Lebanon is an alliance working towards a Lebanese society based on gender equality. We do this by popularizing the concept of positive masculinity, as well as by engaging the network in the process of exchanging experiences and information on ways to involve men in this movement.

The MenEngage Network is anchored by ABAAD – Resource Center for Gender Equality — an organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region in Lebanon.

Mission
The MenEngage Lebanon network strives to create a Lebanese society where men actively contribute to gender equality by promoting positive masculinity. It facilitates the exchange of experiences and information on engaging men in this movement.

Vision
We believe men can be powerful allies in achieving gender equality by adopting a feminist approach and upholding human rights. Our goal is to challenge stereotypical masculinity within patriarchal systems.

Values
Our values form the ethical foundation of the Network. At the core is gender equality — ensuring equal rights, duties, and opportunities for all, regardless of gender, identity, or sexual orientation. We advocate for fair distribution of economic resources, social power, and access to public life. The Network is committed to diversity, inclusivity, and openness to individuals from all social, cultural, and religious backgrounds.

Areas of Work
Beyond engaging men, promoting positive masculinity, and addressing gender-based violence, the Network works across multiple intersecting areas where they seek to build capacity through trainings, include:

  • Gender inclusive citizenship
  • Gender transformative approach
  • Movement building and advocacy
  • Masculinities training
  • Program Parenting skills with fathers
  • Program for youth
  • Accountability and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse

Moreover, the network membership aims to increase the visibility of the network and its work through two main approaches:

  • Implementing social initiatives throughout Lebanon in different geographical locations.
  • Launching an advocacy campaign on issues related to masculinities and violence against women.
