Burn Out IS Real

These past two weeks have literally been a blur. On June 28, my quilt guild hung their annual quilt show at The Barn in Mariemont. It was fun, but it had it’s moments.
Then on July 4, I was a vendor at our small town’s festival. We talked with a lot of people, got the word out about fidget quilts, and watched a fabulous fireworks show. The event ended up having around 2500 people.
On July 5, I released my first traditional quilt pattern, Prairie Star. You can find the pattern here. I am very proud of the achievement and I even sold some last week. Not too bad.
July 6-9 brought company to our household. It was a great time to see relatives we don’t see often.
July 9 also brought the end of the art show.
So this week, well, burnout has set in big time!! I have gotten the studio cleaned up really well. I have gotten some other projects started. But I am exhausted. How do you handle the burnout or let down after an event?
My big take away is give yourself some time to enjoy the accomplishments and also time to rest. Do something you haven’t been able to do in a while. Go see friends. Take a nap. Regardless of the stellar achievement, you need time to rest and process. (And maybe double check your calendar next time before committing to all the things).

This was the booth at the event. I am so happy about the number of people we talked to about the fidget quilts. Hopefully soon it will connect with the right people.
Until then, I am resting and relaxing for a little bit. And then on to the next traditional pattern. It will be a fun one–promise!
