Hi, I’m Matthias. I’m a consultant user experience designer and web design engineer from Stuttgart, Germany. I run workshops on modern responsive web design, prototyping, and design engineering with teams worldwide and teach Interface Prototyping at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design.
With over 15 years of industry experience, I work with companies and agencies to create delightful, accessible, and performant user interfaces and design systems for the Web. I deeply care about design that puts the user first and believe that a prototyping mindset is key to successfully build products and services for the heterogeneous Web platform of today.
I love to build prototypes to validate concepts and explore technologies and by combining design and code, I always approach the creation of user interface solutions with a holistic view. To do so, it is important to stay at the cutting edge of web technologies and to always keep learning. I will share my knowledge with your team to push the boundaries of what’s possible while at the same time I am always open to learn about even better solutions.
Sounds interesting?
Let’s build something together — email me.
Here’s a bit more about what I can do for you and your team:
I work in the space where design meets code — bringing ideas to life in the browser. As a web design engineer, or: a designer and developer, I translate interaction concepts and visual designs into usable, responsive, accessible, and performant components and interfaces with semantic HTML, modern CSS, and robust JavaScript.
My approach embraces the grain of the web, using declarative design, native web platform features, and progressive enhancement to build solutions that are resilient and future-friendly. By prototyping early and validating and refining ideas by first-hand experience in the browser, I help teams bridge the gap between design and engineering, improve collaboration, and create outstanding work that looks beautiful and feels effortless to use.
I will help you design the right user experience. Through research, testing, and rapid prototyping, I validate ideas early and bring them to life with proven UX tools and methodologies. As your users' advocate, I create solutions that work for your business and tell a story while building experiences people actually want to use.
Web Accessibility isn’t optional. It’s the cornerstone of inclusive design, ensuring digital products truly work for everyone. I’ve guided teams through accessibility challenges across multiple projects, from updating existing sites to building inclusive experiences from the ground up.
Whether you need an accessibility audit, hands-on implementation support, or team workshops that turn compliance into practical skills, I’ll help you create digital products that don’t just meet WCAG, BITV, and BFSG standards — they include everyone.
I offer online workshops and on-site training events for companies and design teams worldwide where I share my experience and best practices in the fields of UX and UI design, prototyping, responsive web design, design engineering, processes, and workflows. I will prepare your team for designing with the right mindset for the ever changing multi-device web.
For Adobe Systems, I ran more than 30 workshops on advanced design and prototyping with Adobe XD from 2018–2023.

Since 2012, I teach Interface Prototyping at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel, Germany. The seminar, which is part of the Interface Design program, teaches the basics of prototyping interactive user experiences for digital interfaces. It’s a great honor to help the next generation of designers get prepared for the challenges of the “Experience Age”.
