About the challenge

Get ready! Maple High School's Computer Science Club is hosting their annual beginner level ideathon/hackathon for students in 2023!

With the goal of providing students at Maple High School a new opportunity to learn more about and practice their skills in Computer Science, this event has students developing new hacks within a 2 week period to help a cause.

We encourage students of all skill-levels to participate as all submissions will be judged fairly and will have an even chance at winning.

Requirements

What to Build

Students will submit their apps/ideas for either the Hackathon, or Low/No-code Ideathon.

Hackathon

If you're looking to practice and demonstrate your coding abilities, look no further as this hackathon offers the perfect oppurtunity for individuals of all skill levels to participate! This event consists of students, either solo or in teams of up-to 5, working to meet one end goal - developing a successful application that helps solve a problem present within a theme they will be given. There are no restrictions to this hackathon, besides following the theme given to them. Participants are free to use any language, API, frameworks, or whatever as what matters the most is how well the problem is solved. If this sounds like something you want to do, check out our "Rules" page and read more about our submission requirements.

All hackathon submissions are required to be hosted on Repl.it with tag "#maplecshacks2023". Check out our Resources panel for Repl.it related information.

No/Low-code Ideathon

Aren't that experienced with coding? Fret not, this event offers a completely beginner-friendly Ideathon that requires absolutely zero code to win! The No/Low-code Ideathon has participants brainstorming and creating ideas that help solve a cause for the theme that they will be given. Unlike your usual hackathon, Ideathon participants will have 2 weeks to either work solo or form a team up-to 5, where they will think of, research, and demonstrate their idea through a presentation listed on their DevPost submission. If this sounds like something you want to do, check out our "Rules" page and read more about our submission requirements.

What to Submit

Before the submission period ends, be sure to create a DevPost submission under the Submissions tab for your hack. Don't forget to include a video presentation, and any applicable files (or your Repl.it project link), and any relevant links before it's too late!
