Make SFX

Make SFX is a program that allows you to create self-extracting SFX files. The main advantage of this format is that it can be unzipped in any version of Windows without the need for additional software, using ZLIB as the compression method. This makes it a great tool for creating file containers or installers that can run even on older versions of Windows without the need to install other programs.

Choose the destination path and source file

The Make SFX interface is really simple. Choose the source and destination path on the main page, as well as the executable file to be used as the target. You can even add an icon to associate with the file you are creating. The resulting file will be in EXE format, although it will not be installable, rather a compressed file like a ZIP or a RAR. To extract the files, run it, and a new window will open where the files you selected in the source folder will appear.

Execute scripts when unzipping

To speed up the file creation process, you can choose to extract the contents to a temporary folder by default, to the desktop, to the documents folder, to the current folder, or choose the path of your choice. You can also make the file run a script when decompressing it, so that you can implement additional configurations that are carried out automatically, meaning it is not the end user who has to do this every time they want to decompress the file. Extraction can be completed silently so that you are not disturbed.
