The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes.

Have a wonderful day today, Dear Readers.

Male Bewicks wren upset that the perfect place for he and his missus to set-up house is surrounded by two cats and one human.

This is what a clear blue sky looks like.

I forgot how much I love a vase of beautiful flowers.

2026 Randomness: February

My Goddess, it’s the last day of February already! Where did the time go…

It’s been unseasonably warm this last week. Not that I’m complaining. I actually woke up very early this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I laid there and watched the day emerge while listening to a lone finch herald the dwaning light.

Going downstairs, I turned on the coffee maker and opened the back door so The Boyz and I could see “what’s what” – including this:

I wish I could say the sky remained as beautiful the rest of the day. However, there were some intermittent patches of blue that managed to peek through. Spring has definitely sprung around here, though.

Even though she’s putting out flowers I’m not giving my Datura any food because she’ll be getting a haircut mid-March. In the meantime we will enjoy these two flowers.

The Moon

In the Concrete Jungle, I lost two cyclamen while the “weaker” of the three has gone gangbusters! Have no idea why this happened as I’ve had these plants for a few years now.

Like many of the other plants in the CJ, the NOID gasteria is blooming almost a month early.

AND…drum roll please…my “Onyx Odyssey” hellebore is blooming and she is GORGEOUS!!!

Don’t think for a minute that The Boyz aren’t enjoying being outdoors again, hanging with their Maman, watching the birds (and bees) come and go.

While in Lowe’s a couple of weeks ago I picked up a little fern for my bedroom: “Silver Lady®” Tree Fern. The price was right and it was marked as a SHADE plant. I didn’t do the research until I got it home AND it should do just fine indoors. It’ll be a bigun’ though, topping out at 3′ high and 2′ wide. I shall have to keep it trimmed.

In all things of nature, there is something of the marvelous.

December Randomness

Tortellini Soup

I sauteed minced onions, green beans, thinly-sliced carrots and cone cabbage (Sweet and mild.) until soft then added one container of mushroom broth (Richer flavor than vegetable broth,), two Not-Chick’N bouillon cubes and enough water to accommodate the handfuls of dried tortellini I threw in. Cooked until tortellin was tender and seasoned to taste. Served with a sprinkling of Romano cheese.

Pub Nachos

Over a “party-size” bag of Kettle Chips, I layered Desert Pepper Queso – which I’d warmed over the stove in a pan of water – then topped with some green and red hot sauces I had on hand. On top of this I sprinkled sliced tomatoes, sliced scallions, small pieces of zucchini (Which I lightly sauteed to soften them.), one can of sliced black olives, handfuls of black beans, and a can of sliced jalapeños. Substituting Kettle Chips for tortilla chips makes the nachos much lighter and every last bit was scarfed up.

I see a face. Maybe a skull…

My new throw has The Boyz’ seal of approval.

The lights you see on the right are from the little black tree residing in my bathroom.

Which one will I choose????

At midnight on December 31, 1929, “Auld Lang Syne” was played for the first time by Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians. (Loosely translated from Scots language, Auld Lang Syne means “for the sake of old times”.)

Happy New Year!
