Lord of Scepters: 2026-2027

Every January 1st I select a Word of the Year to serve as a Creative Muse, if you will. On my birthday I do a one-card Tarot reading. Depending on the card it may speak of of specific circumstances or topics that will “color my world”. If it’s a Trump Card then it portends of issues I will be forced to deal with. If a Court Card, it can also serve as a Muse. Such is the case with the Lord of Scepters.

The Lord of Scepters (King of Wands) is Lord and Consort to my Significator card, the Queen of Scepters, so I was more than thrilled to draw him for the coming 12-month cycle.

The suit of Scepters (Wands) is attached to Fire signs (of which I am one) and are associated with the Will, element of fire, action, passion, creativity, willpower, and spirituality. Additionally, Lords (Kings) are the apex of their suit. They are the powerbrokers.

The Lord of Scepters is the quintessential Hero/Superhero Archetype epitomizing strength of Will and assertiveness. Forceful, willful, creative and fierce, he is the courageous Warrior who vanquishes enemies and shatters obstacles standing in his path.

Oh goody. I’m salivating over this already. Kinda like Mary in Sinners

“Your Mama Don’t Dance”

(anyone who thinks otherwise can go jump in Lake Minnetonka)

Poison
“Your Mama Don’t Dance”

Open Up and Say… Ahh! (1988)

A pitch-perfect cover of the 1972 Loggins and Messina hit – and, yes, I’ve seen Poison a couple of times. LOL

Video courtesy of Poison.

Personnel:
Bret Michaels – lead vocals
C. C. DeVille – lead guitar, background vocals
Bobby Dall – bass, background vocals
Rikki Rockett – drums, background vocals

Your mama don’t dance
And your daddy don’t rock and roll
Your mama don’t dance
And your daddy don’t rock and roll
When evening rolls around
And it’s time to go to town
Where do you go
To rock and roll?

The old folks say
That ya gotta end your date by ten
If you’re out on a date
And you bring it home late it’s a sin
There just ain’t no excusin’
You know you’re gonna lose and never win
I’ll say it again

And it’s all because
Your mama don’t dance
And your daddy don’t rock and roll
Your mama don’t dance
And your daddy don’t rock and roll
When evening rolls around
And it’s time to go to town
Where do you go
To rock and roll?

You pull into a drive-in
And find a place to park
You hop into the backseat
Where you know it’s nice and dark
You’re just about to move-in
Thinkin’ it’s a breeze
There’s a light in your eyes
And then a guy says
“Out of the car longhair”
“Louie, you’re comin’ with me”
“The local police”

And it’s all because
Your mama don’t dance
And your daddy don’t rock and roll
Your mama don’t dance
And your daddy don’t rock and roll
When evening rolls around
And it’s time to go to town
Where do you go
To rock and roll?
Where do you go
To rock and roll?
Where do you go
To rock and roll?

I wanted to publish a Post this last weekend. I really did.

But my birthday got in the way and I got caught up in wonderful distractions and merriment. Like partying with my besties and enjoying KILLER jalapeño poppers at a nearby eatery. Even Ramses got side-tracked because he was going to write a Post in honor of Diego, whose birthday coincided with mine. Instead, we said a prayer of thanks for what Diego brought to my life and for bringing Ramses and I together.

Last October we started a new tradition: hosting a monthly Movie Night curated by yours truly. March 27th we kicked off the start of baseball season with two great films: Bull Durham and Major League. There was plenty of beer, peanuts, and upscale dogs, with brownie bites for dessert. I made my “Irish nachos” (So named by J because I substitute Kettle Chips for tortilla chips.). I load them with all kinds of veggies and, of course, jalapeños. Next time I’m adding bits of avocado.

April 17th is International Bat Appreciation Day so we all picked that Friday to have a VAMP Movie Night. Still putting together the menu, but I’ve got the movies lined up: Sinners and The Lost Boys.

Many plans for our merry little group this month and May, but I really look forward to these Movie Nights. I keep a list of ideas at my desk, adding to them all the time. I try to choose films that not only establish a theme but will be entertaining enough to keep everyone engaged, and I’m grateful that our friends trust my choices.

Choosing to embrace abundance and joy,
particularly as an act of resistance and affirmation,
means recognizing it as something we inherently deserve.

– The Fullist

Embracing Joy each day is imperative – especially in these times. To ignore this simple practice is to do a disservice to Life that is suffering at the hands of a certain demographic who, along with their butt-buddy the USA, are up to some very nasty shite. They hate Nature and its beauty which stands in stark contrast to their ugliness. This makes them hate it all the more. Let’s not be like them.

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter.
As you can see, the Easter Bunny paid a visit to Chez Rock Vixen…

April Witch

While Libra abides by accepted rules of compromise
for the sake of peace,
Aries chooses truth over conformity to rules.

– Dark Star Astrology

Here on the West Coast, we are just a few hours away from April’s Full Moon in Libra. In Roman mythology, Mars (which rules Aries) was consort to Venus (which governs Libra). ‘Kayso, we might say we have star-crossed lovers coming together tonight – and although The Lovers would be most appropriate, I drew The Fool. However, when you look at Aries being the start of the astrological cycle which began on March 20th, this makes sense.

Plus, it’s April Fool’s Day! (I swear to Goddess, this card jumped out of the deck face-up. I just cannot make this shite up.)

Just as Aries starts our path through the twelve signs, The Fool begins our journey through The Tarot. He is a free-spirit representing the original creative seed, cosmic consciousness, and spiritual intuition. In readings, he signals a reawakening.

Are you ready for a new adventure? No? Well, you don’t have a choice in the matter because the Universe is sending you on one anyway! (Seriously, I AM ready. As is my cohort, The Prince of Darkness. This also aligns with my dream last night which involved a lizard, the Queen of Wands, and another Tarot card I called “The Rosetta Stone”…)

As an aside, I’m given to understand that, as of today, the balance of powers is shifting toward Iran. The Goddess is breaking the back of the Synagogue of Satan.
