I was super-lucky and got TWO fabulous Breakfast Club stories this year:
“I sneak out,” Brian protested.
“Get a coat,” Bender said, flipping hair out of his eyes. “Come on.”
And! Now that reveals are up, I can tell you all that I wrote:

Big Bri's House (2394 words) by 51stCenturyFox
Fandom: The Breakfast Club (1985), Brian/Bender
Summary:
“It’s eleven-thirty. My parents aren’t going to let me leave now. Maybe if I’d gone out earlier...”
“Your parents won’t know, because we’re gonna go out this window,” Bender explained patiently, shoving a thumb over his shoulder at the curtains fluttering in the breeze. “You live in the basement and you never sneak out of the house?”
“I sneak out,” Brian protested.
“Get a coat,” Bender said, flipping hair out of his eyes. “Come on.”
Fandom: The Breakfast Club (1985), Brian/Bender
Summary:
Three days before John Bender's 18th birthday, he disappears from Shermer, almost as if he'd never been there. Brian wasn't ready for him to go. Brian's never ready to let him go.

I just had the most amazing evening. For my ex's birthday, I dragged him down to City Winery to see Mike Doughty and Andrew "Scrap" Livingston perform their award-winning Question Jar show, promoting the new Stellar Motel CD.
OMG.
OMG.
OMG.
Mike played an assortment of electrical and acoustic instruments (an assortment of guitars, banjo, electric...mandolin?) and his partner played phenomenal cello. I only cried twice (or maybe 3 times) due to the combination of nostalgia, mood, and incredible live performance. They had a stageworthy improv standup-y thing going in between instrument changes, where they riffed off the questions written down by audience members and pulled from the eponymous "question jar" onstage.
This is also the venue you want to go to if you are like me and older, want seats, excellent acoustics, a small audience, and fabulous food and wine to go with your entertainment. Seats are reserved and are either tables or bar stools. We had an obstructed view, so there was a big flatscreen TV showing the performance right in front of us, which was perfect.
The menu rocked: a Murray's Cheese-curated cheese board! Excellent wines by the glass or bottle! The scallops were fantastic and the speck, tallegio, sage, and butternut flatbread was phenomenal. (The charcuterie board was also great, and the brussels sprouts were fine but mine are better.).
It was food for the body and food for the soul. I cannot remember the last time I had such a satisfying experience; Mike Doughty's resonant voice was served well by the pared-down instrumentation, and the cellist was just a joy. Hilariously, he got absolutely none of the Soul Coughing references. Mike was thrilled every time one went over his head.
(The only drawback was the woman two seats over from me who sang along to, like, everything. Very audibly. Just about every time I was going to say something the ask her to stop, she'd pause for a bit. I don't blame her for the impulse, but COME ON. I want to hear THEM, not YOU.)
Some of the songs he played tonight:
Light Will Keep Your Heart Beating in the Future
Madeline and Nine
Looking at the World from the Bottom of a Well

Dear Yuletide Author,
THANK YOU! Thank you for writing a story for me, and rest assured I will be ecstatic regardless of story specifics. (As always: optional details are optional!)
If you've found your way here, you are probably looking for further specifics, though, right?
In general, I love banter and humor and don't really care for character bashing. For relationshippy fics, I love first times, pining, and happy endings. (Any rating is fine with me.) For gen fics, I really enjoy characters finding something that changes them or that they are willing to change for.
If you're stuck for ideas, I do enjoy good outside POV stories, casefic, AUs, and surprise BAMF-iness.
If you want to consult someone who knows what I like,
shayheyred is a good bet!
I hope you enjoy having an excuse to write for one of these smaller fandoms, and please feel free to explore whatever you want to, if you're so inspired. I'd rather read the story you want to write than have any particular checklist of items met. I am so excited!!! You can also read this entry on Dreamwidth (

You were no longer shiny or new, but I loved you anyway. I didn't mean to spill wine on you and short everything out!
I hope the Apple Store in the sky provides you with neverending battery power, and that you are gratified to know your interim replacement cheapo Windows laptop will never measure up to your memory.

Happy New Year, everybody! I am excited to claim credit for the yuletide story I wrote this year:
Based on the Evidence for
perfectlystill
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Amy Santiago POV -- sorta Amy/Rosa, with a little Amy/Jake UST thrown in
Summary: Santiago and Diaz go undercover as a couple in a gay bar.

Amy and Rosa get to know one another a little better. Amy learns a few things. And Peralta may not be the only coworker she has a little UST with.
See the end notes for warnings, etc.
I had a ball writing it.

I have a yuletide story, and it is exactly what I asked for!
Four Jobs Joan Could've Had and the Life She Had Instead
Elementary, Joan-centric, Gen
This is a fantastic little five things story where we get glimpses of other lives Joan could have had, and the one that she actually does. It was such a wonderful way to start my day.
Thank you, yulegoat, whoever you may be!

Dear Author,
My apologies for taking so long to write this letter! Thank you so much for writing me something -- anything! -- in one of my beloved fandoms. Please feel free to depart from any of my suggestions, since as we all know, optional details are optional.
I don't have a specific list of further details or desires, to be honest. If you have something in mind that's not like anything I mentioned in my original request, please feel free to run with your inspiration instead! Otherwise, I have some general likes and dislikes that might help if you're still looking for some direction.
I enjoy slash (including femslash), gen, and het. I gravitate towards slash pairings, but I will enjoy anything you write! Please feel free to make suggested pairings gen instead, or vice-versa.
Loves: banter, humor, badassery, equality, stupid idiots being their stupid idiot selves, AUs, crossovers, animalistic behaviors, competence, longing, plot (although plottiness is really not necessary for me to enjoy a story), first times
Likes: realism, angst, some flavors of impregnation/breeding kink, time travel
Dislikes: character bashing, humiliation, overly strained miscommunications for plot purposes, codified gender roles, seriously unhappy endings

I think a lot of fans work in pet rescue. I can ignore Percy and Charlie being littermates, but "Jsquare"? "Hale"? "Snuffles"? "Fraser"? "Batman"? "Harold" and "Kumar"? This sort of thing does absolutely nothing for my resistance.
