HAPPY NEW YEAR! Cuddles to all xxx

Nonsensical gabbling

http://www.yourgibraltartv.com/ygtv/ygtv-blog/political-blog/4941-aug-29-the-battle-against-a-myth

Interesting article on what is happening in and around Gib at the moment . . .  Sorry if it's boring but half my family is still living there and this affects them every single day.

In other news? Well my daughter has shown me the newer 'Sherlock' series. Not bad, not bad at all! I still adore ( and see it as a definitive version) the Jeremy Brett portrayal of Sherlock Holmes; but I can see the appeal of the modernised Sherlock too. Personally I think they stand together rather well.

Kiddies are back at Uni/College/School as of next week which means things will either slow down or get crazy. Why is it never somewhere in the middle?
Ooh, talking of middles my ASD MB did some work experience and they liked him so much he was offered a job. He isn't 16 yet so he has a massive application to fill in . . but ... Yes! *Yah boo sucks* to all those people who never give him a chance!!

Grandmother was in hospital again earlier this year but is now much better, back at home and looking forward to being 96 *crossing fingers etc.,*

Sadly my sister lost one of her doggies as the female was run over and the shock was too much for her. The male is still pining for his sister . . .

Might go into town on Monday. I do this roughly once a year, because after going to London for the day you realise you are quite happy living in the country!

Also? I want it to be long sleeve weather soon. I know that isn't the majority view but WAH! If I wanted the heat I'd be living somewhere warmer!! lol

Eurovision mutterings ;-)

We watched Eurovision last night. Or rather, I attempted to watch Eurovision whilst surrounded by chattering small fry. I wanted Malta to win - if only to watch them attempt to fit the entirety of the contest into their island . . . . .
The girlie is still singing that particular song. Personally I was also rather bemused by the high pitch singing dracu-like. Excellent! :-)

My cousin has finally been told she is lactose intolerant (read: very allergic) and has been informed that she should avoid dairy at all costs. She's moaning at me, of all people, as to why so much food contains dairy and how expensive the non-dairy alternatives are. That's right, dear - moan at the vegan, lol ;-)

I have a pretty purple sofa coming soon - hopefully it will match my walls!!

Piccie hereCollapse )

Oooh, lookee here

Yes, finally! Can log in properly once more - it was truly driving me mad repeatedly getting an error message!

Well now . . .

Still knitting - have knitted a jumper for one of my eldest's friends in Scotland. That went into the post today so hopefully he'll receive it tomorrow. :-)

Grandmother had another scare and has been in hospital; only this time it was fairly serious - to the point of the doctors asking my mother whether or not they should resuscitate her if she went. Grandmother has miraculously pulled through. Honestly, I think if she wasn't so strong-willed she'd be gone long before now . .

The girlie will be 17 on the 20th. Kind of scary!  She seems to be enjoying her college course though.

Other than that it's really quite quiet around here. Nothing much happening!

Well now. Olympics in full swing - girlie quite liked the boxing . . .

The one-eyed sausages-on-legs that are the mascots are a little disturbing, though . . . I know what they're meant to be, but to me they just look like one-eyed sausages. Sorry. ;-)

Ahem. Anyway, small fry are doing their thing - eldest is studying for his Bsc, girlie is off to college in September, MB is supposed to be doing full days at school again when the holidays finish and youngest has had a massive physics discussion with his great-uncle today. His great-uncle's hip is actually healing really well - from the end of June to now and he is only using one crutch instead of the zimmer frame/wheelchair. Result, I think!

Our family photograph collection is expanding; we keep finding cousins, lol. Seriously, I've found some in Leicester and Aberdeen that are the Gib side of the family! Knew about Wakefield, Hull and the lot in Christchurch NZ but not the Leicester and Aberdeen people! I'm always saying (jokingly) that Gib people are all related and then life goes and proves it for me! ;-)

Hopefully going into London at the weekend (not to the Olympics but for a meeting and some food) so that should prove interesting :-D
You know what I have realised? In between all the stress of the last couple of years, we still manage to get on well as a family. :-D
If my teenagers choose to skip along the pavement, I will join them. We sit on trains and play 'I Spy' and clapping games. If my daughter cannot reach shelves in the supermarket I will climb them to reach what she was after . . . My children all dress for themselves, not as other people expect; we look very eclectic on days out, lol . . . but they each have respect for themselves and others. They hug in public (and why shouldn't they?!). We've taken to bowing if people stare at us as a group - we have it synchronised. Two able-bodied  and two disabled children make for interesting journeys. If my middle son wants to waddle like a penguin for a few minutes, that's perfectly fine, too. It doesn't make him odd or strange or lacking in 'moral fibre'. It's called personality.
So; we manage to carry on even with outside influences making it very hard for MB to receive his education. Even when the girlie has to have help with her skin and cannot reach anything designed for people her age. Even when the eldest and youngest need peace and quiet and simply don't get it. They know that they have support behind them and we're aware that they all look after one another. We're still getting on okay - and that's important.
Tee hee. :-D

Thank you kindly :-) My sister has had Willow and Scruffy from very small puppies, so when Willow was run over and left in the road it was something of a shock for her.

As to Gib - me, too. So much…
