    *THE WORD FOR TODAY*

Humble yourself, and try to make it right

    Tuesday 7th April 2026

ā€œIf you have been snared with the words of your mouth…Go, humble yourself.ā€ Proverbs 6:2-3 NASB (1995)

In 1755, a twenty-three-year-old army colonel was running for a seat in the Virginia assembly, when he made an insulting remark as part of a campaign speech. It was addressed to a hot-tempered man named Payne, who responded by knocking the colonel down with a hickory stick. Soldiers rushed to the colonel’s assistance, and it appeared a full-blown fight would ensue.

But the would-be politician got up, dusted himself off, called off the soldiers, and quietly left the scene. The next morning, the colonel wrote to Payne requesting his presence at a local tavern. Payne obliged, but he wondered what motives and demands the colonel might make—perhaps an apology or even a duel. To Payne’s surprise, the colonel met him with an apology, asking forgiveness for his derogatory remarks and offering a handshake. Others may have viewed the move as politically expedient, but Colonel George Washington considered it personally imperative if he was to enjoy internal peace as he continued with his political campaign on his way to becoming America’s first president. Jesus said, ā€œTherefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Agree with your adversary quicklyā€ (Matthew 5:23-25 NKJV). Solomon said, ā€œIf you have been snared with the words of your mouth…Go, humble yourself, and importune your neighbourā€ (Proverbs 6:2-3 NASB1995). The word for you today is: Humble yourself, and try to make it right.

    ii. SAVED AND YET MISERABLE

"When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?" - Luke 18:8

It was a great moment for Israel when they stood on the other side of the Red Sea and watched the water pour back over the Egyptians, their chariots and horses. While they were looking at this spectacle, they must have been praising and worshipping God with their hands up high. There was dancing with joy.

    Never doubt again

If they had been asked: 'Will you ever doubt God's goodness and omnipotence?' they would have said: 'No, never.' But their great trust only lasted for three days.

In Exodus 15 we read that they grumbled against Moses, and with this against God, because the water was bitter. It is the same in our generation today.

You might have some difficulty with the above and say: 'still, there are quite a lot of believers.' May I remind you that of the 600,000 Israelites (only adult men counted) who left Egypt in high spirits, only two - Joshua and Caleb - entered the promised land?

Dear reader, we can be redeemed from the power of the enemy and still never come into the fullness of Jesus Christ. Saved and yet miserable! The truth is that many Christians have been saved and yet they have been wandering their entire lives in the desert. Plagued by depression, fear, insecurity, etc.

But God absolutely does not want His children to perish in the desert of life. The promised land was a good land, a land of abundance. This is how our life should be: a good life full of abundance.

People, who had seen so many miracles from God, perished in the desert because of doubt and unbelief. If we want to be successful in these last times, then our faith in God should be strong. This faith must be founded on the Word of God. The evil one is always looking to bring down our faith. However, let the storms rage. Stand in faith! We are more than conquerors with Jesus.

    2. Morning Prayer for today.

    i. Morning Prayer

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. ā¤ Galatians 2:20

Christ is not valued at all, unless He is valued above all. ā¤ Saint Augustine

Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, hear our prayer. You suffered to save us from eternal separation from God. Have mercy on us and bless us. We praise You and worship You, Son of God, who reigns with the Father in heaven. What can we give You for Your great love and sacrifice for us? Your mercy is endless, and Your grace is beyond understanding. This morning, we look to Your cross, where You paid the price for our salvation.

May Your love fill our hearts as we bow before You, sparking a love in us that consumes our whole being. We want to live today under the influence of Your cross. Help us remember that we belong to You, bought by You at the cost of Your precious blood!

Help us live in a way that honors You.

Keep our hearts pure, so we can clearly see You.

Keep our words clean, so we can speak of You with respect and honor.

Keep our hands clean, so that everything we do brings blessings.

Keep our lives free from wrongdoing, so that wherever we go, Your goodness shines through us.

We ask You, dear Redeemer, to stay close to us all day and keep us close to You. There’s no safer place than near You. Protect us and wash away our sins in Your cleansing blood. Fill our hearts with Your Holy Spirit. We ask all these things in Your name. Amen.

  • Good morning, brethren.

    1. Morning devotion for today.

    i. ☘
    *THE WORD FOR TODAY*

God has a purpose for your life

    Monday 2nd March 2026

ā€œYe have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.ā€ John 15:16 KJV

It doesn’t take many people to bring about change. In fact, too many people can get in the way. Gideon took 32,000 to fight, but God needed only 300. He doesn’t care how many can be counted—He cares only about how many can be counted on. The truth is that your life could be messed up because too many people are telling you what to do.

Hang up the phone. Shut the door. Turn off the TV. Get down before God and ask Him to speak to you. He will give you the word you need (see Isaiah 50:4). God doesn’t need a crowd; He just needs one who will listen and obey. If He wants to start a nation, He’ll give hope and vision to an Abraham. If He wants to bring down an Egyptian Pharaoh, He’ll reach into the bulrushes and pull out a Moses. When He wants a lineage for His Son, He’ll go to the ā€œred light districtā€ and find a Rahab. He’s just looking for a willing heart. Listen again: ā€œYe have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.ā€ Ethel Waters, who sang with the Billy Graham crusades, loved to say, ā€œGod don’t sponsor no flops.ā€ Her grammar was slightly off, but her theology was ā€œright on.ā€ Don’t spend your life trying to be ordinary. Don’t pour your life into the mould of someone else’s expectations. God has an agenda for you. The reason He’s brought you through so much is that He has a higher plan and purpose for your life. Get into His presence today and ask Him about it.

    ii. THE DECISION

"Now fear the Lord and serve Him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt… But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:14-15

The people of Israel used to serve Jehovah, the living God. Some of them, however, had forsaken God's ways and secretly served idols from other nations. As we read the history of Israel, we see that every time there were people who went astray from God and started to serve idols.

    A real conversion

When you come to God, your conversion should be real. We will have to turn our back to the old life and cut all ties which lead to that life.

Joshua could not bear it anymore that there were people who were double-minded and forced them to choose: either you serve God, or you go your own way.

Elijah did the same thing when he said to the people gathered on Mount Carmel: 'How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal is God, follow him' (1 Kings 18:21).

Joshua had made his choice. He was faithful to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Everybody knew what he stood for. Today I want people to know what David Maasbach stands for. Many already know what my stand is because of the message I bring. I also do not like when people are double-minded.

    What is your stand?

I love people who do not compromise but stick to their choice. Joshua was such a man. He showed the people where he stood for. What is your stand? Say with the apostle Paul in Romans 1:16: 'I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.'

Do we take our stand for Jesus even when it is very difficult? Jesus belonged with heart and soul to the living God when He was on earth. Let us follow His example.

    2. Prayer for today.

    i. Morning Prayer

For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: ā¤ Philippians 3:20

The men who have done the most for God in this world have been early on their knees. ā¤ E.M. Bounds

O God, most merciful—bless us this morning. Lay Your hand upon us with a Father’s blessing. May the grace of the Lord Jesus be upon us and in us all day long. Let Your word dwell in our hearts richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing us. May it be so deeply rooted in us that it keeps us from sin. May the power of Your Spirit rest upon us throughout this day, cleansing and purifying our thoughts, feelings, and all our inner life, and compelling us to walk in holiness in all we say and do.

Please guide us today, O God, and keep us in all our experiences. Guard us from carelessness. Let us not drift away from the holy truths we have been taught, nor from Jesus Christ our Savior. Let us not become entangled in the affairs of this world in a way that causes us to lose any of the sanctity of our lives. Though we are in the world, let us not be of it. Help us to maintain a godly life amid all that is ungodly. May our citizenship always be visibly in Heaven, even though we dwell on this earth. May we be true pilgrims, looking for a city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. Let us not love this world as if we were going to stay in it forever.

Grant a personal blessing to each one in our family. Our needs are different. Tenderly care for those of us who are weak. Shelter any of us who will be exposed to temptation today, and let us not fall. If any unforeseen trouble or sorrow lies in our path, prepare us for it, that we may not be caught off guard and fall into sin. May we each carry out into the world a power of love and grace that will bless everyone we meet. We ask all this for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
