    Lighten Your Load.

Every day we carry around extra baggage, whether it is our backpacks, briefcases, purses, diaper bags, wallets, etc., and those bags can weigh quite a bit. Doctors will tell you that carrying around those extra pounds can do long-term damage to our bodies, stressing our muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, and nerves, which can lead to permanent damage. So it is with our spiritual lives when we carry our own burdens instead of giving them to the Lord. We carry around the heavy weight of resentment, anger, jealousy, and hatred, which is far heavier than an overloaded backpack or computer case! And the damage to our bodies is so much greater. The Bible says in Hebrews 12:1, “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” If we are dragging around excess baggage of guilt, holding a grudge, a bad habit, poor self-esteem, bitterness, etc, then it’s time to lighten our loads and place our burdens at the feet of Jesus. He will gladly take the weight off of our shoulders, and we’ll feel light as a feather. And it is then that we’ll be able to experience the real joy of living and run the race God has set for us. NOTE.- If Christ here referred to a small, low gate in the walls of Jerusalem, called "The Needle's Eye," as is thought by some, the force of the statement still remains; for, before a camel could pass through this gate, it was necessary that he should be relieved of his burden, and get down on his knees and creep through.

Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter." James 5:1-5.

Eze. 7:19.

NOTES.- When the steamer "Central America," with nearly six hundred passengers aboard, was wrecked off Cape Hatteras, Sept. 12, 1857, in a fearful storm, many of the passengers who were returning miners from the gold-mines of California, divested themselves of their treasure belts and scattered the gold upon the cabin floors, telling those to take it who would, lest its weight about their persons should carry them to their death. "Full purses, containing in some instances thousands of dollars, lay around untouched. Carpetbags were opened, and the shining metal was poured out on the floor with the prodigality of death's despair. One of the passengers opened a bag and dashed about the cabin twenty thousand dollars in gold-dust, and told him who wanted to gratify his greed for gold to take it. But it was passed by untouched, as the veriest dross."- "Our first Century," pages 642,643.

When the steamship "Arctic" was lost from a collision in mid-ocean, Sept. 20, 1854, one passenger offered thirty thousand pounds sterling, or one hundred and fifty thousand dollars, if the life-boats would put back to save him. They turned to do so, but he sank before they reached him.- Id., page 614.

    34. As stewards of God's gifts, what are we told to do?

"And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations." Luke 16:9. "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." 1 Peter 4:10.IS NOT the way to heavenly gain

    Through earthly grief and loss? Rest must be won by toil and pain;

    The crown repays the cross.

  • pulled out of te pit parts 5 and 6

    Chapter 5

    Psalm 40

    I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord;
And He inclined to me and heard my cry.

    2
He brought me up out of a horrible pit [of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay,
And He set my feet upon a rock, steadying my footsteps and establishing my path.
    3

    He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will see and fear [with great reverence]
And will trust confidently in the Lord.

    PULLED OUT OF THE PIT

I have said in previous chapters, that I was a churchgoer, and so I was, but not because I wanted to, but because I was forced to.

We got prizes for going, I still have a book with photos of the UK gives as Sunday school prize in 1971, all I was interested in was getting things, it was all about Me and I.

Arriving in class 4s I looked around and wondered who I could upset first, the lucky person was a rather stout boy who sat by the window, often I could be found by his desk teasing and tormenting him, and he was more religious than me, he went to church youth groups on Friday night, Saturday night and church twice on Sunday, talk about fanatical, you need to get yourself a life Andrew!.

So he became the butt of all my anger, I punched him, pulled his hair and did other really bad things, hit out and shouted at him and yet, no response. Everyone else responded, but not him, what is up with this guy?

Our class became 5s and yes we were in the same class.. how annoying. Mr Scott said to Andrew, you will never get Keith to become a Christian, how wrong he was!

He was getting under my skin, he started to invite me to meetings on Saturday night, are you joking...I would rather cut my toe nails.. with a hacksaw!.

He's at it again, come on Saturday Night, I'll pick you up at the bus station, oh ok, anything to shut him up.

So on this Saturday night, I was let out of the house, my parents should of known better, so off I went.

We met up and went up to Moorlands gospel hall, the place was packed, what's happening, all these religious nutters.

So we started the meeting, hymns were sung, some people stood up and said how Jesus had changed their life, Good for them, but it went over my head.

The preacher stood up, Victor Jack from Suffolk, he spoke about what would happen if Jesus came back tonight, I remember being a little scared, I had not heard anything like this, he talked of Jesus being the only answer, at the end he said I'm going into a side room, if anyone wants to come and talk to me, knock on that door.

All I remember is closing my eyes and it was a curtain going up, my eyes had been opened, I turned to Andrew and said "I'm going into that room", his jaw dropped, we arrived just before someone else did, if they had got their first, I wouldn't of gone through with it, but I was ushered in, Victor took my through the book Journey into life by Norman warren, I said the prayer at the end and meant it, I remember going home and blurted out to my parents "I've become a Christian", my fathers retort was "you should of been home earlier".

So life changed on that night, I passed from death to life on that night.

Back in 2024, I was able to see my beloved friend Andrew and also to meet Victor again, now 87, he welcomed me and my family into his home and his home church.

I owe them both a debt, I can never repay, on that night, I was truly PULLED OUTOF THE PIT.

    DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

Salvation from sin through Christ is a miracle, it cannot be accomplished through our good works or any other man made religion.

I should know, I tried. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian, you can sit in Burger king and change your name to Mr A Hamburger, but you aren' t and can't be a hamburger.

It is what Christ has done for you on the cross, he brings you to God, he is the saviour, he is the divine substitute, the one who had to die in your place.

I wasn't good enough to come to God on my own, someone had to take my sin and that one was God's perfect son Jesus.

As soon as I trusted Him, he made me justified and accepted by God the Father, I was sealed by the precious Holy Spirit, he was the one who opened my eyes and my heart that cold February night, he alone can do that.

We can witness and share the gospel till we are blue in the face, we can convince people of the existence of God and the reality of the cross and the resurrection, but it is only when the Holy Spirit, opens someone's eyes and heart can they be saved.

Every true born again believer is a trophy of God's grace, they have a new heart, a new nature, a new focus.

They are now on the pilgrim road, I thank God, that I am on that pilgrim road.

I am a living walking, talking miracle of God's grace.

    Are you?

    Chapter 6

    Ezekiel 36:31
Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

    College, Church and Cars

I was now a Christian and I became a member of Andrew's church, and also of his youth group.

My Christian faith started to grow and in 1980,just past my 21st birthday, I was baptised by immersion to signify my commitment to Christ.

During this time, I had a wonderful Pastor David Green, who spent many hours counselling me, likewise my dear brother Kevin.

Just before I came to China, I was able to phone Pastor David and apologise and tell him, that I was walking with the Lord, he was as usual very gracious.

Kevin died of cancer in 2024, whilst in the UK, I was able to phone him and talk with him, I owe you a great debt my friend.

Just before my 21st birthday, I lost my dear father, he died right in front of my eyes, just quietly passing away, he had given up as his will to live was gone.

This was a terrible blow to mum as she blamed herself, he had been retired for six months and had no chance to enjoy his retirement.

After school, I went to the local college to get more GCE O levels and then to another college in Preston to get accounting qualifications, this is hoped was the door to working in an office, but due to my stammer, employers felt, I would be unable to communicate, especially when answering the phone.

So, in late 1979, I took a job as a storeman at the local mental hospital, I only took this job on a short-term basis, but it lasted ten years. This was not the happiest time of my life, I was living at home and working full time, I was fully involved in church activities, but was still a rebel.

This was a very manual job, our store had everything from food to furniture in it. Fifty kg bags of rice, sugar and flour had to lifted off wagons every day, It was certainly no job for the weak hearted.

I ended up in the medical store as this was the best job in the store, but the stores closed in 1989 as all the stores in Lancashire were centralised in one central location forty miles away.

Although my time there was not particularly happy, I paid into the National health pension scheme and now I receive that pension here in China, so God knew exactly what I needed in the future, he prepares everything for us.

As a Christian, I was in the church, but still with one foot in the world.

During this time, I was able to buy a car, my first car was a little lime green mini, which got the nickname "the lime green terror", I used to love driving this little car, I had it for nearly 8 years and was so much fun, not so much when driving it down the aptly called Cemetery road in Bradford, where pothole avoidance meant it was like an obstacle course.

Sadly by the mid 80's my faith was waning, I left membership of the Baptist church, this was no one else's fault but mine, I had chosen my own way and the penalty I paid was very severe, the scars remain.

Have I been forgiven completely by God?

Yes of course I have, but the regret for the nearly two decades I wasted still sting.

    DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

I say this with shame, I have wasted large swathes of my life, this is something I am not proud of, I write it because I don't want anyone else making the same mistakes.

Even thinking about these things leave a bitter taste in one's mouth, you get lots of things you lose in your life, clothes, furniture etc, but you can never replace time.

The time is lost, I can never reclaim it, it is gone.

The wasted years, and to be honest in my case, it was because of my bad sinful choices, the devil had his way for too many years, the years I lost were between the ages of 25-40, these are the best years of our lives and what did I do, I wasted them on frivolities and things that did not matter.

There is always a price to pay for sin and disobedience, sure God will restore and totally heal, like he did with David but scars and consequences remain.

So please don't waste a minute of your life on things that don't truly satisfy and don't let bitterness, anger or selfishness take over your life.

I am a prodigal, the prodigal, thank God did return and was restored.

Praise God for his forgiveness , mercy and grace.

Maybe I am speaking to one who has made bad choices and strayed far away from God, there is restoration and healing at the foot of the cross.

Coming back to God took many years, the time in-between took me to places I rather wouldn't of gone too and to see things, I shouldn't of seen.

The Lord is very patient, slow to anger, the words of Psalm 103 come to mind.

8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

    Come and receive that healing.

pulled out of te pit parts 5 and 6 Chapter 5 Psalm 40 I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up out of a horrible pit [of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock, steadying my footsteps and establishing my path. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear [with great reverence] And will trust confidently in the Lord. PULLED OUT OF THE PIT I have said in previous chapters, that I was a churchgoer, and so I was, but not because I wanted to, but because I was forced to. DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT Salvation from sin through Christ is a miracle, it cannot be accomplished through our good works or any other man made religion. Are you? Chapter 6 Ezekiel 36:31 Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. College, Church and Cars I was now a Christian and I became a member of Andrew's church, and also of his youth group. ST TRINIANS WITH BOVVER BOOTS

    ISAIAH 53

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

The St trinnian films of the 1950's tell the story of a girls school, that was completely out of control and caused mayhem, wherever it went.

Skerton School looked ok from the outside, the drive had beautiful apple blossom trees either side of it, it had hundreds of little cherubs running about, but scratch below the surface and you would scream.

The teachers were legends, these included Charlie Emmett, boys were sent to him, if they had done wrong, and he brought their bum in close proximity with a T-square, Our music teacher Sweaty Betty Willson, who used our lesson to give us a lecture on the state of the world, Ms Pallister our young French teacher and Mr Curnow our RE teacher, who met and married at school, Mr Waterhouse my history Teacher who did train impressions and MY Form teachers Mrs Warrington and Mr Scott.

School uniform was augmented by bovver boots and associated items, indeed anything that could cause grievous bodily harm, this was the 1970's, could you imagine, having students change sex or calling themselves homosexual, at Skerton, they would of been killed, although some of the girls did look a bit like men, again no names, but your name begins with S.

All those teachers did their very best under the most trying circumstances, we were a right bunch. But Keith was the school clown, he used to drive teachers and schoolmates mad with his antics, he was an attention seeker, desperately trying to grab people's attention.

Some of the stories about school trips are the stuff of legend, to fire extinguishers being set off on the Mersey ferry to buses getting stuck on Formby sands.

On other trips small swords were stolen in Keswick and items stolen from a small shop in Grasmere, the owner of the shop came onto the bus to identify the culprit, but couldn't as most boys had their heads under coats or under seats.. but we all who the culprit was. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Grasmere was the location, were a group of students visiting and staying at the youth hostel, were locked out, so the smallest was ordered to shimmy up the drainpipe to climb through the open window and open the door.

Keith was placed in the lowest stream in 4th year, he ended up doing woodwork and metalwork, PE and no academic studies, my father fought to get me into an academic class, finally after missing two terms, he was moved into class 4S, but he still continues to act the clown.

We had to leave our bags outside our classroom, at lunchtime, ours was the art classroom, there was a little ledge just above the door, and how can I put this, some person, took great pleasure of lobbing my satchel onto this ledge, so at 1pm, everyone was kept waiting as Keith was running about retrieving his satchel, again we know the culprit. He still lives in Morecambe.. don't you?

The school had many famous landmarks, which included the toilets near our classroom, which was the only toilets with a chimney as this was the place for smoking. You know when a new pope is elected, white smoke comes out of the chimney, well it is was like that in the toilets, white smoke would be seen streaming out of the windows, as students were trying to in their words.. have a drag.

The school was definitely not very PC or woke, it was a throwback to a bygone age, but it was truly the best days of our lives.

Not only was there a place for smoking, there were places for snogging also, behind the bike sheds and the brass band room, were the best places, so I am reliably informed by a person, who spent lots of time in both places, indeed the bike sheds have been moved to Altrincham town centre as a souvenir. or a memorial, I don't know which.

Lunchtime was time for football in the playground, but it was not long before you heard the sound of FIGHT, and the sound of teachers running and saying, you two clowns get to Mr Emmett.

Skerton is now demolished, it is now a housing complex with flats, but it was for us a deep memory imprinted on our minds, life revolved around school, next time I return to the UK, we will have a school reunion with Russ, Wilf, Bruno, Gary and of course the legendary Sheri.

Other memorable occasions include the sports day, where Keith decided to do the hurdles and fell over the first one, creating the biggest laugh ever.

We played sports, we had to choose teams, in football, I was never chosen first, always last, the choice came down to me or a lamp post the lamp post was usually chosen first.

At school, Keith did finally buckle down, he got Grade 1 in both History and Geography and Grade 3 in English Language and Literature, he got the prize for History, well they had to give someone else a prize, the rest went to a certain genius from Mount Avenue, including the snogging prize.

Lifelong friendships have happened through school, my dear friend David Hobbs is still a great friend to me and my dearly beloved Andrew, who I can never thank enough.

Years later Mr Waterhouse and Mr and Mrs Curnow, came to my church, what a joy to know we will meet again.

One last story, our head girl in year 5 was a girl called Diane Stephenson, she was a vivacious girl with a very quiet friend called Deborah Ormerod, they were in my class and they were inseparable. Diane especially used to come and talk to me, she was a really nice person.

I remember our last class on Friday afternoon was Geography, one Friday I looked across to Diane's table, the boys were gathered around the table, she had them eating out of her hand, she had her whole future in front of her.

Coming in on the following Monday morning, we had our headmaster and other senior teachers in our classroom.

On that Friday night, the two girls had gone out with their seventeen to eighteen old boyfriends in a car, coming down the hill in their home village, the car lost control and crashed into a wall, both passengers who had no seat belts, were killed instantly, the two back seat passengers were seriously injured.

Diane was killed that night, Deborah was seriously injured.

I will always remember looking at them both on that Friday night, hours later, she was dead.

Life is so fragile, this has always stuck in my mind.

In Keith's last term at Skerton, something happened to Keith, but more of that in our next chapter.

    Devotional thought

As youngsters, we go on our merry way, we laugh and cry together, school for us was not an academic lesson is was about survival.

I remember in RE class, Mr Curnow saying Jesus is the answer, I just mocked him. I wish I had listened, because he is truly the answer.

I didn't want to go to Skerton, but it was the place, where God had placed Andrew. Mr Scott our form master had said to Andrew " your wasting your time with Keith, he's beyond hope".

There are two wonderful words at the start of Ephesians 2:

    BUT GOD

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
No one is beyond the grace and mercy of God, I am a living testimony to this fact.

    CHAPTER 4A

    SILENT KILLER

    Proverbs 15:3
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

I am writing this to be able to relate to the many people, who have suffered from bullying both in the home and at school.

Many people suffer from bullying at school and it can scar them for life, it remains an itch that you can't scratch.

My bullying story started at friends school, I met a boy there who was a year older than me and he took it upon himself to bully me, verbally and physically.

Now the first thing I would say is that, I deserved at least some of it, as I did irritate people, but that is not the whole story, although I did cause some of it by my actions, that does that mean that any bullying is acceptable.

Later on at Skerton, this bullying got worse, the more I was bullied the more angry I became. I remember years later meeting a girl in our class online and the first thing she said was " you were the one they bullied", that was her impression of me.

Into adult life and in my first marriage, this bullying has persisted, again some of it is my fault, but not entirely.

So how do you deal with it, let me share what I have learned, as getting over the pain is not easy.

    Devotional thought

Having a deep and meaningful relationship with God is essential as this is the first step to healing, bullying is usually done in the shadows, no one else knows about it, except you and the bully.

Having this relationship with God allows you to heal, he is the great healer, because when you come to him, you come as a child and become his son or daughter and you are loved.

Also you are able to pray and forgive the person who has bullied you in the past or maybe who is doing it now.

The verse at the top should give anyone who has experienced bullying, real hope. The Lord sees everything, he has seen every word spoken against you and will hold that person accountable.

Another thing to do, is that if you are going through bullying, you must not render evil for evil, that is not the way to go. The cycle must be broken and one of the ways to do is to tell people you trust that bullying is going on, it may be a pastor, close friend or parent/extended family member.

Remember what I said earlier, in my case, I deserved a little bullying, but not the indiscriminate anger of another person, that is NOT RIGHT AND IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE.

Even joking is not acceptable, I got lots of nicknames at school, we indeed gave nicknames to some of our teachers, indeed I was not nice on several occasions to my teachers.

I write to give hope to people, I write because I have been where you are and now I rest secure in God's love, knowing that nothing can ever hurt me, no verbal or physical abuse.

I finish with the words of Romans 8, may they be as amazing to you as they are to me.

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There are two wonderful words at the start of Ephesians 2: BUT GOD 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) No one is beyond the grace and mercy of God, I am a living testimony to this fact. CHAPTER 4A SILENT KILLER Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Devotional thought Having a deep and meaningful relationship with God is essential as this is the first step to healing, bullying is usually done in the shadows, no one else knows about it, except you and the bully. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • MORNING AND EVENING.
    Charles H. Spurgeon

    Morning.

    "Remember the poor."
    Galatians 2:10

Why does God allow so many of his children to be poor? He could make them all rich if he pleased; he could lay bags of gold at their doors; he could send them a large annual income; or he could scatter round their houses abundance of provisions, as once he made the quails lie in heaps round the camp of Israel, and rained bread out of heaven to feed them. There is no necessity that they should be poor, except that he sees it to be best. "The cattle upon a thousand hills are his"--he could supply them; he could make the richest, the greatest, and the mightiest bring all their power and riches to the feet of his children, for the hearts of all men are in his control. But he does not choose to do so; he allows them to suffer want, he allows them to pine in penury and obscurity. Why is this? There are many reasons: one is, to give us, who are favoured with enough, an opportunity of showing our love to Jesus. We show our love to Christ when we sing of him and when we pray to him; but if there were no sons of need in the world we should lose the sweet privilege of evidencing our love, by ministering in alms-giving to his poorer brethren; he has ordained that thus we should prove that our love standeth not in word only, but in deed and in truth. If we truly love Christ, we shall care for those who are loved by him. Those who are dear to him will be dear to us. Let us then look upon it not as a duty but as a privilege to relieve the poor of the Lord's flock--remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Surely this assurance is sweet enough, and this motive strong enough to lead us to help others with a willing hand and a loving heart--recollecting that all we do for his people is graciously accepted by Christ as done to himself.

    Evening.

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."
    Matthew 5:9

This is the seventh of the beatitudes: and seven was the number of perfection among the Hebrews. It may be that the Saviour placed the peacemaker the seventh upon the list because he most nearly approaches the perfect man in Christ Jesus. He who would have perfect blessedness, so far as it can be enjoyed on earth, must attain to this seventh benediction, and become a peacemaker. There is a significance also in the position of the text. The verse which precedes it speaks of the blessedness of "the pure in heart: for they shall see God." It is well to understand that we are to be "first pure, then peaceable." Our peaceableness is never to be a compact with sin, or toleration of evil. We must set our faces like flints against everything which is contrary to God and his holiness: purity being in our souls a settled matter, we can go on to peaceableness. Not less does the verse that follows seem to have been put there on purpose. However peaceable we may be in this world, yet we shall be misrepresented and misunderstood: and no marvel, for even the Prince of Peace, by his very peacefulness, brought fire upon the earth. He himself, though he loved mankind, and did no ill, was "despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief." Lest, therefore, the peaceable in heart should be surprised when they meet with enemies, it is added in the following verse, "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Thus, the peacemakers are not only pronounced to be blessed, but they are compassed about with blessings. Lord, give us grace to climb to this seventh beatitude! Purify our minds that we may be "first pure, then peaceable," and fortify our souls, that our peaceableness may not lead us into cowardice and despair, when for thy sake we are persecuted.

  • THREE ANGELS BROADCASTING NETWORK DEVOTIONAL.
    The Late Train.

    By Lynette Jaque

    April 3rd, 2026

“He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4

We were running late when I texted my boss that the “Jaque Train was slow leaving the station.” She responded with a loving and understanding, “Take your time, Sis!” After wrapping up the flurry of morning preparations, praying with our young, home-bound scholars, and shutting off all the lights, we hustled out the door.

As I drove, my husband and I were discussing our upcoming day. So much activity between family life, production schedules, administrative duties - it was adding up to be a delightfully busy, productive day. Being as we were later than usual, the sun was at an uncustomary angle on the near horizon, blazing away with grand intensity. As I approached our country road turn off onto a busy rural highway, the sun’s brilliant corona spread out, obscuring the oncoming lane. I bent forward, peering below the edges of the sun’s rays, and spotted the lights of an oncoming vehicle. Thank you, Jesus! A person with their lights on in the early morning! I let them safely pass. One more quick check at the bottom of the solar sheen, and I pulled out onto the road.

“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” Psalm 32:7

Suddenly, out of the dazzle of sunlight, a pale SUV with no lights on emerged at top speed! I pressed the gas to rush us out of the way, with a narrow miss. My startled mind saw a miss of six feet, but it was probably more like 10 or 15; regardless, it was too close: I know at highway speeds things can change in a heartbeat. I started praising Jesus for His mercy in sparing us—and our fellow traveler—from what would have been a side-impact accident at 55 miles per hour. The vintage of our vehicle meant that it has no significant airbags, so my husband and I would have borne the brunt of the assault, unprotected. My husband also joined me in praising our Heavenly Father for His deliverance, and then he gave a prayer of thanksgiving for both of us as we continued on to work, as I repressed the urge to hug everyone who drove past us with their lights on!

We have survived 100 percent of everything that has tried to kill us thus far. God’s mighty angels work tirelessly to aid us in our day-to-day living, keeping us safe for His purposes. As someone once said, “You’re immortal until God’s done with you.” I don’t mean superhuman or bullet-proof, but God does have a plan for each of us. Everything, every person we meet, every near-miss we survive—it’s all part of His plan to mold us into the tools He needs to complete His work.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

  • Good morning, brethren.

    1. Morning devotion for today.

    i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2026.
"THINKING AND ACTING LIKE JESUS (4)"
‘…Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it…’ Matthew 11:29 TM

THE RELATIONSHIP Jesus had with the Father is a prototype of the relationship He wants you to have with Him. Jesus was so intimate with the Father that He could say, ‘…I am in the Father, and the Father in Me…’ (John 14:11 TM). Jesus was also intimately acquainted with the Holy Spirit. His first recorded sermon begins with: ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me…’ (Luke 4:18 NAS). He was ‘…led by the Spirit…’ (Matthew 4:1 NIV) and ‘…full of the Holy Spirit…’ (Luke 4:1 NIV). He returned from forty very tough days of being tempted by the devil in the wilderness ‘…in the power of the Spirit…’ (Luke 4:14 NIV). He was submitted to the Father and empowered by the Spirit. It was His habit to go to worship (Luke 4:16). It was His practice to memorise Scripture (Luke 4:4). Luke says Jesus ‘…often slipped away to be alone so He could pray’ (Luke 5:16 NCV). His times of prayer guided Him. He once returned from prayer and announced that it was time to move to another city (Mark 1:38), and another time of prayer resulted in the selection of His disciples (Luke 6:12-13). Jesus was led by an unseen hand. ‘…The Son does whatever the Father does’ (John 5:19 NCV). In the same chapter, He stated, ‘I can do nothing alone. I judge [each situation] only the way I am told…’ (John 5:30 NCV). Today, pray, ‘Father, keep me sharp, sensitive and surrendered to You in all things; not as a last resort but a first response. ii. THE DANGER OF AN UNCONTROLLED TONGUE

"It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison." - James 3:8

A tongue that cannot be contained is one of the deadliest weapons on this planet. James 3:6 says: 'The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.'

An uncontrolled and indifferent tongue will completely degrade the spiritual life of a Christian. A loose tongue makes our spiritual life worthless! James 1:26 says: 'Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.'

James refers to people in the church here. They look gentle and kind, but their tongue is like a sharpened razor at work, at home, with friends and in church. They complain, gossip, lie and curse.

    Poison bags

There are Christians who have poison bags like a snake. There will come a day when we will be held accountable for what we have said. Jesus says in Matthew 12:36: 'But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.'

Each word will be accounted for on the day of judgment. When we make a mistake, we should not only confess our sins but also completely remove the poison bag and its roots from our life. Our tongue must be controlled. How can we do this? Jesus said: 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible' (Matthew 19:26).

You cannot control your tongue just as a wild horse cannot tame itself. That is done by a horse-tamer. Our tamer is the Holy Spirit. He is very experienced and only He is able to control our tongue.

    2. Morning Prayer for today.

    i. Morning Prayer

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. ⏤ Romans 12:1

Let every step be a ministry for Him, every task a consecration. ⏤ J.R. Miller

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, look upon us graciously as we wait at Your feet. Receive our thanks for the goodness of another night, and accept this consecration of our lives to You for another day. We are Your own children, and we will trust You for all that our lives need. We will strive to obey You. We shall need Your grace in order to do Your will—and we ask You to give us grace that we may be faithful and dutiful children.

Enable us to do our simplest tasks for You as carefully as if they were the largest and most sacred ministries that mortal is ever set to do. May we find our Father's business . . .
    In our household chores,
    In our school duties,
    In our play and recreation,
    In our everyday jobs.

May we learn to do all in the name of the Lord Jesus and for Him.

All around us are those who need kindnesses which we can render. May You give us so much of the Spirit of Jesus, that we shall go about doing good all the day. Even while engaged at our ordinary work, may we be so filled with divine love, that we shall give help and cheer to all we meet by our cheerful manner, by our encouraging words, and by our thoughtful kindnesses. May our wayside ministry, as we move along at our work, be a ministry of continual blessing.

Draw us now near to You, and give us the touch of Your hand before we go out. If we should never all come together again as a family, if death should call any of us home before the nightfall, let us not be separated in the heavenly home. Let us not fall by the way into any sin. Mercifully preserve us from all evil. And may grace, mercy, and peace be with us all forever. Amen.

Good morning, brethren. 1. Morning devotion for today. i. 😀🌹🎀🎁💝🌺 MORNING TEA THE WORD FOR TODAY. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2026. "THINKING AND ACTING LIKE JESUS (4)" ‘…Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it…’ Matthew 11:29 TM THE RELATIONSHIP Jesus had with the Father is a prototype of the relationship He wants you to have with Him. Take over. Jesus within me, live Your life through me!’ Bible In A Year: ob 40-42, Luke 19:37-44, Pro 8:27-29.
