I’ve been pondering my life (now aged 66) and concluded again: The gospel of God’s kingdom - the good news, is incredible. God had to make me instantly perfect in him because he would use me to serve him long before I became even slightly holy. After all, he almost literally picked me out of the gutter. He used me because, despite my weaknesses I loved him and I loved people. He ordained me as a Reverend, entrusted me as a pastor and third-world missionary in Africa, despite my lack of holiness and weakness in areas of my life. He knew that I was formed in a certain way (the Royal Navy had a lot to do with it) and that formation was not conducive to living an all-out Godly life. Yet, he chose me, called me and used me to this day. Everything I have and hold dear is because of Jesus. I’m indebted beyond words
