WHAT'S YOUR LONGING BENEATH THE SURFACE?

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"Jesus turned, saw them following him, and asked, 'What are you looking for?....'" John 1:38 GNT

The text is about the first words that came from the lips of our LORD, Jesus Christ, at the beginning of His earthly ministry. It's imperative and important for every child of God to ensure that what they are looking for in following LORD Jesus is in sync with the desire of God for them.
John the Baptist came to prepare the way of our LORD. He pointed people to Jesus' direction. There were different classes of people looking for the LORD Jesus, and they had diverse kinds of motive for looking for Him.
There were some who came out of curiosity, just to see what would happen. There were others who came to Him because they had friends that were sick, and they wanted their friends to be healed. There were others who came with the hope of getting the loaves and fishes. And there were others that were trying to kill Him; they were observing Him, and angling to lure Him into some conversation through which they might twist His words, and so have a ground to bring Him before the Sanhedrim, and cause Him to be pronounced guilty of blasphemy, and punished.
Some were looking for Him for what they could get; and others for who He is. And this is the class of seekers you should belong to, those who are not after what they can get, but who are seeking after Him for who He is.

During His earthly ministry, the LORD Jesus constantly found men looking for miracles, what to eat, healing, office and honour, etc; and that is precisely the spirit today, and it is a horrible malady.
One of our greatest troubles, and one great reason why we do not get greater blessings from God, is because we are not pure in our motives for seeking for the LORD Jesus.

At this point, I would like to have you ask yourself these questions:

1). What am I seeking from the Master?

2). What is my motive for following after Him?

A truthful answer to these questions would definitely place you on the road to recovery or going in your walk with God.

PRAYER BULLETS:

LORD Jesus, it's my desire to behold Your lovely face ever, grant that in my secret heart, no other love competes, and rival throne survives as I serve only You.

FURTHER READING:

Isaiah 55:6; Mark 8:36; Acts 4:5-13; Ecclesiastes 12:8; Matthew 6:33.
