FAITH-SEEKING DOUBT

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"Then he said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.'" John 20:27 NIV

Thomas, with the rest of the disciples had been with the LORD Jesus for more than 3 years and must have obviously imbibed all He had taught them about what would happen after crucifixion and burial.
It was obvious that Thomas never believed the witnesses of Peter, Mary Magdalene etc, regarding the empty tomb. Why not? You may want to ask, well, given the environment and the situation of things around the disciples of our LORD Jesus then, anyone in Thomas' shoes may have doubted also.

Thomas' doubt was a 'faith-seeking' kind granted him by the LORD's Omniscience for a specific purpose - so that he could see Him again and have his doubts cancelled out and his faith deepened; and so the LORD chose to appear the second time.

You may have made a mess of your God-given opportunity, but He is saying to you that He's the God of second chance, His will for every child of His is to spend eternity in His presence.
But you should take note of the truthful reality that this is not a licence to continue in sin and trusting God for His grace to abound, or to continue making same mistake over and over again.

Your best option is be divinely focused in redeeming the time. If it has to be, it's up to you.

PRAYER BULLETS:

Thank You for the message out of this mess, help me to have no reason whatsoever to ever doubt You.

FURTHER READING:

John 20:24-31; Romans 6:1; Exodus 6:2-9:35; Ephesians 5:15.
