Daniel 5:11-12 ESV
There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods. In the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him, and King Nebuchadnezzar, your father—your father the king—made him chief of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and astrologers, because an excellent spirit, knowledge, and understanding to interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve problems were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation.”
Good morning and praise God. I hope you're having a great morning. Let's talk about being faithful to our God. We all know that for sure God is faithful. This morning we reflect on our expected response to that. Belteshazzar was the name Daniel was given in Babylon. When Nebuchadnezzar died, his son Belshazzar became the new king. This son had witnessed or knew how God had humbled his father through a tough live as an animal. This son however never learned anything from that. One day they had a party and he thought it a good idea to use items robbed from Jerusalem temple for the party! It was all going well as they drank from temple's goblets while praising their gods until a hand appeared on the wall and wrote this mysterious message that all the wise men of Babylon couldn't read. It was already known in the Kingdom that Daniel (Belteshazzar) would do it. The message was from God and it clearly stated that Babylonian kingdom was over . It was over for these proud people who would not bow to God and worship Hon despite having witnessed His power. All those years God had been faithful but this was the last night for them. That night Belshazzar was killed and Medes took over the kingdom. Daniel the faithful man of God continued to shine (though not without challenges). Are you ready to be a faithful child of God like Daniel? He was not firm on his own accord but because he remained constantly faithful to God in a place where he had all opportunities to turn on reckless or conforming life. He continued praying thrice a day and practically living his faith. May God help us emulate him and follow Jesus Christ always. God loves you have a blessed day. Shalom. Shalom.
