God Is Working Behind the Scenes

Scripture

1 Samuel 9:16 (NKJV)
Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin and you shall anoint him commander over My people Israel that he may save My people from the hand of the Philistines for I have looked upon My people because their cry has come to Me

Divine Appointments in Ordinary Moments

1 Samuel chapter 9 introduces Saul before he becomes king. The chapter begins with what appears to be an ordinary task. Saul is sent by his father to search for lost donkeys. It seems like a routine errand with no spiritual significance.

Yet behind the scenes God is orchestrating something far greater. While Saul is simply looking for animals, God is arranging a meeting with Samuel that will change the direction of Israel’s leadership. What looks like coincidence is actually divine appointment.

Verse 16 reveals God’s perspective. He had heard the cries of His people and was preparing a leader for them. Saul did not yet understand that his simple journey was part of God’s larger plan. But God was already working.

This chapter reminds us that God often works through ordinary circumstances. Daily tasks, unexpected delays, and simple responsibilities can become moments where God guides our path. What seems small to us may be part of God’s greater purpose.

For believers today 1 Samuel 9 encourages trust in God’s providence. Even when life feels routine or direction unclear, God is arranging circumstances according to His plan. Faithfulness in ordinary moments prepares us for extraordinary assignments.
