THE SPIRIT OF HONOUR
REV. AROME E. TOKULA
Isaiah 11:3 (TPT) - He will find his delight in living by the SPIRIT OF THE FEAR of the Lord. He will neither JUDGE by APPEARANCES nor MAKE HIS DECISIONS based on RUMOURS.
The anointing of God’s Spirit will cause you to walk in the fear of God. The fear of God is not the same thing as being afraid of God because there's no fear in God!
This anointing brings holy reverence for God in your life such that you live in honour before God. In our text, it was prophesied that Jesus would walk in this anointing, and He did. Jesus said in John 5:19 (TPT), “... I speak to you timeless truth. The Son is not able to do ANYTHING FROM HIMSELF or THROUGH MY OWN INITIATIVE. I only do the works that I see the Father doing, for the Son does THE SAME WORKS as his Father.”
It isn't like Jesus didn't have initiatives, but He submitted His will to the will of the Father out of honour for the Father because He knew the Father loved Him. His decisions were more than 'good’ decisions; they were God’s decisions.
Some people by making wrong decisions have ruined and removed themselves from God’s plan and purposes for their lives because you can't walk with God on your own terms. As you in honour to God, He’ll teach you to ‘wait' for Him such that your 'judgements’ or decisions will not be based on appearances and rumors i.e. trends?
You don’t have to be like King Saul who lost out on God’s plans when in 1 Samuel 15 he was instructed through Samuel to go to war against the Amalekites and destroy them COMPLETELY. Saul went to war, but didn't destroy them COMPLETELY. He spared King Agag and brought some of the ‘choicest’ animals as spoils. When the prophet Samuel confronted him, his answer in 1 Samuel 15:15 was, “... the PEOPLE spared the BEST of the sheep and the oxen, to SACRIFICE to the LORD YOUR GOD; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.” Saul was a king who preferred to listen to the people rather than God. Keeping the best to make sacrifices to God doesn't justify disobedience in any way. The prophet told him, “… Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice…” (1 Samuel 15:22-23)
Saul lost out on God’s plans and purposes for his life because he would rather do a 'good’ thing than God’s thing. He followed the trend but with God, simple obedience is better than great sacrifices. Unlike David who would quickly repent and do God’s will, the bible says in 1 Samuel 15:30 (MSG) that Saul told Samuel, "... I have SINNED. But don't abandon me! SUPPORT me with your presence BEFORE THE LEADERS and THE PEOPLE. Come alongside me as I go back to worship GOD."
For Saul, it was always about appearances and trends. Jesus said in John 4:34, “... My food is TO DO THE WILL OF HIM WHO SENT ME, and to finish His work” because His greatest satisfaction was found in being right in the center of the Father’s will.
Avoid appearances and trends and yield to this Spirit of honour that is resident in your in the person of the Holy Spirit because this is where true success begins!
DECLARE
I am totally and completely submitted to the will of the Father for my life. My one desire is to be right in the middle of His will and be found doing that which pleases Him. I have found my greatest fulfillment because I am in the very will of the Father doing that which pleases Him. I choose to walk in the Spirit of honour and fear of the Lord in Jesus’ Name.
