1
[Kibaku] Pwapu ni kǝ ndzai brǝkawa akwa tsa mawir dunya nam tǝ Hyal Thlǝku tara mǝrti. Apani dzǝ nkǝrɛ ala mwala ni, gǝri, ngati tǝ Hyal nkǝrɛ, apri ta gǝri sǝmɛ sanga kari fwɛ nam akwa fwaku ni?.
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2
[Kibaku] Mwala ni kǝ kalaktǝni ala pwapu ni, yar ata sǝmɛ kari fwɛyar nam akwa fwaku.
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden.

3
[Kibaku] Ama fwɛ nam akwa dǝfa fwaku ni, Hyal nkǝrɛ, ta yar ta sǝmɛ, ba ta yar tsǝkwa, ta yar ta nti.
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4
[Kibaku] Pwapu ni kǝ nkǝrɛ ala mwala ni, gǝri adi ata ntiwɛ.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.

5
[Kibaku] Ahani kadǝbar Hyal zǝndi apri vǝr nam tǝ gǝri sǝmɛ tǝni, ntsa gǝri ata burtatdzi, gǝri ata ndzai apa hyalyar, gǝri ata zǝndi kuldakur ba su bǝrkawakur.
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

7
[Kibaku] Ahani tsadar ka bughǝrtazdi, dar hya nakghadu dar ka puti thali, dar hyati kari akǝri.
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

8
[Kibaku] Dar ka ngati kudaha Hyal Thlaku ada mwari akwa fwaku ni akwa langlangǝr vǝr, Adambu aka mwalarni ka ndǝwar kǝrdar ta Hyal Thlku akwa ntsa fwɛyar nam akwa fwakuni.
And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

9
[Kibaku] Hyal Thlaku ka kǝga Adambu, dzǝ nkǝra alari, ama gǝri?
And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10
[Kibaku] Dzǝ ka nkǝrɛ yi ngati kudaha gɛ akwa fwakuni, yi ka kǝti hyivǝr, kadǝbar yi anghyaɗu, antǝ yi ka ndǝwar kǝrna.
And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.

11
[Kibaku] Dzǝ kǝ nkǝrɛ, wa gha apǝr gǝ anghyaɗu? gǝ sǝmɛ akaw fwɛ ni, yi adi tsau ala gǝri ta gǝrǝ sǝmɛ akwa fwɛ ni wɛ?
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

12
[Kibaku] sal ni kǝ nkǝrɛ, Mwala ni nam tǝ gǝ lai ka yar ndzai ataKǝmaduku, dzǝ lai akwa madar fwɛ ni, tsǝ yi ka sǝmɛ.
And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13
[Kibaku] Hyal THLAKU kǝ nkǝrɛ ala mwalani, mǝ ani ǝni tǝ gǝ 'yati ni? mwalani kǝ nkǝrɛ, pwapu ni antara zǝlanta tǝra, antǝ yi ka sǝmɛ.
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14
[Kibaku] Hyal THLAKU kǝ nkǝrɛ ala pwapu ni, kadǝbar sǝr ǝni tǝ gǝ 'yati ni, barkar ngɛ kǝlntadzi akwa tsa tha yarɛ, mawi yarɛ nam akwa ntaku, aka kutagɛ anni tǝ gǝ ata mwari, ghyi anata ndzai sǝr sǝmǝr ngɛ akwa ndzair ngɛ.
And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15
[Kibaku] yɛ ta pu dawarkur akwa mpwanga gɛ aka mwalani, akaw mpwanga madar ngɛ aka madar ni, dzǝ ata dǝlnta kǝra gɛ, gǝ ata kali thlari.
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

16
[Kibaku] Ala mwalani tsǝwɛ dzǝ nkǝrɛ alari, yi ta dzakti bwanir ngɛ ba nǝr kǝlhur, aka bwania tǝ gǝ ta ya madar, sal ngɛ ani ata ndzai ndǝ vǝ tǝ ngɛ, ndza hya aka dǝna ata nkǝra gɛ.
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shaplt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

17
[Kibaku] ala sal ni tsǝwɛ dzǝ nkǝrɛ, kadǝbar gǝ ngạ labar mwalar ngɛ, antu gǝ ka sǝmɛ akwa fwɛ ni, nam tǝ yi tsau ala gɛ, yi nkǝra la gɛ, ta gǝr ta sǝmɛ tǝni, yi kǝlnta barkar dai ni ata nyar ngɛ, aka bwanai antǝ gǝ ta sǝmɛ ata dza akaw sanga ndzair ngɛ ata mpikɛ;
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

18
[Kibaku] Ntǝkda kaka ndzagalagadu ani tǝ ndza ta sǝbakǝr ala gɛ, ahani gǝ sǝmɛ thali nǝr dai ni.
Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

19
[Kibaku] Aka dǝnar stǝfǝr ngɛ ani tǝ gǝ ta sǝmɛ, har tǝ gǝ ta lǝkwa dai ni; akwa ndza antǝ gǝ tara sǝba. akwa ghyi antǝ gǝ sǝba, akwa ghyi antǝ gǝ lǝkwa.
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

20
[Kibaku] Adambu kǝ la mwalar ni thlǝma Hauwa'u, kadǝbar dzǝ ani angǝra sanga su nam aka mpikɛ.
And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

21
[Kibaku] Ala Adambu tsǝwɛ ba ala mwalar ni Hyal THLAKU 'yhati kari kutsi, ka hati ala dar.
Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

22
[Kibaku] Hyal THLAKU ka nkǝrɛ, kulinahani, sal ni kǝ ndai apa muri, dzǝ kǝ zǝndi su nam nda aka su kulnda. kulini dza, ta dzǝ ta haba tsǝyari, ka dzǝ kǝli fwɛ nǝr mpikɛ ni, ka dzǝ sǝmɛ, ka dzǝ hya aka mpikɛ nam kura kuri.
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

23
[Kibaku] Ahani Hyal THLAKU kǝ kǝlba tǝni akwa fwaku nǝr idin ni, ka dzǝ la dai ni nam tǝ dzǝ sǝba akwa.
Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

24
[Kibaku] Dzǝ ka kǝthlǝba sal ni, dzǝ kǝ pu ata pwali nǝr sǝti tsǝtsi nǝr fwakǝr idin ni kǝrukum yarɛ, ba ada nǝr u'u ata kǝlara pwali, kadar wulhi fwɛ ni nǝr mpikɛ ni.
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
