"Eyes on the Path"

I remember when I was still a young boy, trying to learn how to ride a bike. I can still feel the wobble of the wheels beneath me, the nervous grip of my small hands on the handlebars, and my eyes constantly darting down at the pedals as I tried to make them move. Every time I focused on my feet instead of the road ahead, the bike would start to wiggle. My hands would shake, and before I knew it, I’d lose balance and fall.

Frustrated, I stopped and looked at my father. He smiled calmly and said, “Jay, don’t look at the pedals. Look straight ahead... focus on where you’re going.”

So I tried again. This time, I fixed my eyes on the path before me. I pushed the pedals once, twice… and for the first time, I felt the bike move smoothly beneath me. I was finally riding.

Looking back now, I realize that learning to ride that bike wasn’t just about balance, it was about focus. And isn’t that the same in our life as Christians? Many times, we lose balance because our eyes are fixed on the wrong things... our struggles, our fears, our failures. But when we lift our gaze and look straight ahead, fixing our eyes on Jesus... the Way, the Truth, and the Life... we find our rhythm. We find our direction.

Because just like riding that bike, faith requires trust. And when we keep our eyes on Him, we don’t just move... we move forward.
