Grace Jin Drexel, the daughter of a well-known Chinese pastor recently detained in China’s crackdown on underground churches, is asking Christians around the world to remember and pray for believers in China.
In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Drexel — an American citizen and Senate staffer — said her father, Pastor Ezra Jin Mingri, was arrested at his home in Beihai, Guangxi, on Oct. 10. He’s accused of “illegally using information networks,” a charge she says is clearly political and meant to silence him.
Around the same time, about 30 other Zion Church leaders and members from cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen were also arrested or went missing.
Pastor Jin, who took part in the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, helped start Zion Church in 2007 — one of China’s largest unregistered house churches. Even though authorities shut it down in 2018, the church continues to meet and grow, both in person and online.
Drexel urged, “Please don’t forget us. Don’t forget the Christians in China.”
