A Life Fully Offered

Scripture

Leviticus 1:9 (NKJV)
But he shall wash its entrails and its legs with water. And the priest shall burn all on the altar as a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord.

The Whole Burnt Offering

The burnt offering was one of the first sacrifices described in Leviticus. Unlike some offerings where only part was given, this one was burned completely on the altar. It represented total surrender, devotion, and consecration to God. Nothing was held back, and the offering rose as a sweet aroma to the Lord.

For believers today, this offering points to Christ, who gave Himself fully and completely on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. It also points to our response as His followers. We are called to present ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. This means giving every part of our lives—our time, talents, desires, and will—without holding back.

This verse challenges us to consider whether our lives reflect total surrender or if we are keeping parts back for ourselves.

Reflection Questions

1. Am I giving my whole life to God, or am I holding back certain areas?

2. How does Christ’s complete sacrifice inspire me to live fully surrendered to Him?

3. What practical steps can I take today to offer myself as a living sacrifice to God?

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who gave His life completely for me. Help me to respond with a heart of total surrender. Teach me to live as a living sacrifice, holding nothing back, so that my life may rise to You as a pleasing aroma. In Jesus name, Amen.
