A JUST GOD
2 Samuel 21:1 KJV
Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
God is a just God. Love is His nature and is not based on any condition. Some people think God loves them because of what they do, but He loves simply because He is full of love. He watches over the affairs of men and fights for the afflicted—because they are afflicted, and He feels what they feel.
The Gibeonites were not part of Israel, yet when God's people, the Israelites, treated them wrongly, God did not spare Israel. Specifically, King Saul slew many of them without cause. A famine hit the entire nation because of this. God always defends the weak and innocent; He rises to their defense and fights for them.
People often ask, "Why did God have to send His Son to die before forgiving us of our sins?" It’s because God is just. Someone had to pay the price for the wrongs we had done for justice to prevail.
In His love, He chose to pay the price Himself. A just God cannot overlook wrongdoing or allow it to go unpunished.
This is why we can have confidence when we do good and extend love to others—because the just God sees our hearts.
Hebrews 6:10 KJV
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
This is also why we must apologize to those we offend—whether spouses, friends, family, children, pastors, or church members. Failing to apologize may work against us because God is just.
As for our sins against Him, Jesus became the propitiation, making it possible for us to access God. That is why calling on Jesus is the only way to receive salvation from a just God.
Prayer:
I am confident in this life. I maintain a heart of love and do good, knowing God is a just God, in Jesus' name.
THANK YOU FOR STUDYING AND SHARING WITH OTHERS. GOD BLESS YOU.
