  • What a great morning! God is good! I have been busy the last few days, with the sweet smells of baking coming from my tiny kitchen where I create goodness straight from the Master's hand and i imagine the laughter of my children and grandchildren whom i will soon see. As i fold and mix my ingredients, I picture their smiling faces as they wait eagerly for our arrival. My mind shifts to the many yesterdays long ago. I can hear the crackle of the wood as it burns brightly in grammas woodstove. I can smell the savory frybread she would make and see the pot of bubbling duck soup cooking merrily on the woodstove. Outside the wind picks up and i see the stiff clothes waving slowly on the line held there as though captive. The snow swirls and dances past the frosted windows and suddenly sleighbells are heard as the horses draw closer plowing through the deep snow. A wagon load of friends and family has arrived! Everyone tumbles out, pushing and shoving each other, good naturedly, as people slip and fall in the deep snow, laughing and giggling. The door is flung open and eager hands reach for babies and little ones as everyone tumbles inside. Snow is shook off, creating a white cloud of diamond dust as coats and shoes are removed. The horses are taken to the shed where they are unhitched and rubbed down, fed and watered. Gifts are unloaded and a mountain of food is brought in. The table and counters fairly groan with the weight. Everyone is hugging and greeting, many grateful to see another Christmas. Kids, dogs and a few cats tumble around the floors in merry chases. Someone brings out a fiddle and someone else produces a guitar, the music starts to play. Before long everyone is either singing or dancing, even the babies. Food is kept warm and everyone eats when hungry. These get togethers will last into the wee hours with more people arriving and some leaving.
Things changed once alcohol entered the picture, we still had fun times but they were a little different.

  • We live in a sex crazy world and its very sad. I used to enjoy movies and tv. I watch neither anymore. I rarely listen to the radio even.
I do know one constant. I serve a God who never changes and for that i am grateful.
