Fasting means direct communication to God, It's not a one-sided talk or speech. It's where we meet with God live.

Because of human conscience, I can plan to fast for 5 days. What if God answers after 12 hours? Will it be meaningful to proceed or listen to His voice? If it happens that I have to listen to His voice then I have to end my prayers right there.

However, If have fasten to the end without listening God's voice then I have to ask myself "what went wrong?" because this is not the purpose of prayers and fasting. We need to be there with God, have conversations and work with him.
