I encountered Jesus in 1987 Nov, a year after I left the communist movement based in Mindanao, Philippines. My late husband too was a cadre like me but left earlier than me and got born again first . It was a small daughter church of the first city Southern Baptist church in my hometown that I encountered God and immediately after I was baptized started helping in the church ministry for children until I became a staff in Children Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). As we (with my late husband) grew in our faith, our wounded hearts also found the healing we needed. The knowledge and understanding of God's love and work on the cross gave me the capacity to forgive those who wronged me and the humility to ask forgiveness from them whom I also have caused pain. my journey of healing, forgiveness and restitution was long but I praise and thanked God for not leaving me alone. Just as He was present all the days of my rejecting Him as a commie/atheist, HE was and is with me ALL the way untill now. The story of the fiery furnace was real to me. First, with my youngest son lost to us when our family was in the season of seeking when and where to start the ministry God called us to be 3yrs after leaving our home for 20yrs. Second, was the almost 2mos.of being in the hospital of my late husband and his death. These two events in actual time almost drove me crazy, got depressed without me knowing it. BUT GOD is faithful! He was and is the anchor of my soul. True to His promise. He will not leave nor forsake me.
At present, I am pursuing the vision God gave to me way back 1989. it was a long journey before God finally opened the first phase of it. Got a 10min.video done already as a glimpse of the book I have written documenting our experiences in the communist Party especially as victims in the purging within the movement that started in mid80's and God's instrument to push me/us to the wall and finally led me to His Kingdom of light. This project I believed is God's call for me to ; 1. Share to our people 🇵🇭 and beyond, the REDEMPTIVE POWER of GOD's LOVE
2. EXPOSE/EDUCATE/INFORM the youth of today of the dangers and deception of the godless ideology and
3. Help us BUILD a house of refuge - a HAVEN OF HOPE - for the underpriviledged, abused, neglected and victims of conflict/war children.
I may not know yet where it shall be built and the other details, but I am assured, God will not bring me this far at this age and time, and leave me/us alone.
it is my faith and prayers that though nothing is seen yet in the natural, the book, the full length movie and the house of refuge will soon materialize . SOLI DEO GLORIA🔥🕊️🙏🏻

    Scripture

    1 Samuel 8:7 (NKJV)
And the Lord said to Samuel Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you for they have not rejected you but they have rejected Me that I should not reign over them

The Danger of Wanting to Be Like Everyone Else

1 Samuel chapter 8 marks a major shift in Israel’s history. The people demand a king so they can be like the other nations. On the surface, their request seems practical. Samuel is aging, and they want stability. But beneath the request lies something deeper. They are dissatisfied with God’s direct rule.

Verse 7 reveals the heart issue. Their demand for a human king was ultimately a rejection of God as their King. They wanted visible leadership they could see and control rather than trusting the invisible God who had delivered them repeatedly.

God instructs Samuel to warn them of the consequences. Earthly kings would tax them, conscript their sons, and place heavy burdens upon them. Yet the people persist. They prefer conformity over covenant.

This chapter teaches that desires shaped by comparison can lead to compromise. When we measure our lives against culture instead of Scripture, we risk rejecting God’s design for us.

For believers today 1 Samuel 8 reminds us to examine our motives. Are we asking God to bless what we want, or are we seeking what He has already ordained? True security comes not from blending in with the world but from living under God’s reign.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Have I ever desired something simply because others have it

    2. Am I fully content with God’s leadership over my life

    3. Where might comparison be influencing my decisions

    Prayer

Lord God forgive me for times when I have desired what others have rather than trusting Your design for me. Help me to submit fully to Your rule and find contentment in Your leadership. Guard my heart from comparison and compromise. In Jesus name Amen.

These three months were designed to test everything you built in the fall....." 🏻🏻

    Verse of the Day
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
