QR Code Generator
About Tool
Quick Response (QR) codes serve as a seamless bridge between digital data and physical devices. This generator allows you to encode URLs, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials, or short data payloads into a scannable 2D barcode that can be instantly read by smartphone cameras and barcode scanners.
Whether you are creating marketing materials, restaurant menus, event badges, or inventory tracking labels, QR codes eliminate the friction of manual data entry. Instead of typing a long web address or complex serial number, users simply point their camera and are immediately redirected or presented with the stored text.
Creating Your QR Code
To begin, enter your data into the Payload (Text or URL) field. As you adjust the settings, the tool will process the input. You can modify the Size of the code to ensure it fits perfectly into your design layout without pixelation.
You can also configure the Error Correction level. Higher error correction adds redundancy to the visual pattern, allowing the QR code to remain scannable even if it becomes dirty, scratched, or partially obscured by a logo. Once customized, click Generate QR Code to produce the image, and use Copy Base64 to easily embed the image data directly into your HTML or stylesheets without hosting an external file.
Complementary Workflows
QR codes are excellent for securely distributing complex data. For instance, you can generate a strong Wi-Fi password using our Password Generator and encode it so guests can scan to connect. If you are tagging inventory items, you can create unique tracking keys with the UUID Generator and map them to printed QR labels.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the different Error Correction levels?
QR codes support four error correction levels: L (Low, ~7% recovery), M (Medium, ~15%), Q (Quartile, ~25%), and H (High, ~30%). Level M is the standard for most use cases, but Level H is recommended if you plan to print the code outdoors or overlay a custom logo in the center.
How much data can a QR code hold?
Standard QR codes can hold up to roughly 4,000 alphanumeric characters, but the visual pattern becomes significantly denser as more data is added. For optimal scanning speed, it is best to keep payloads concise, such as a URL or a short text string.
Do QR codes expire?
The QR code itself is simply a visual representation of text and will never expire. However, if the QR code points to a URL, the code will become useless if that web address is taken offline or changed.
What does the Base64 output do?
The Base64 output converts the generated image into a long text string. You can use this string directly in an HTML tag, allowing you to display the code on a webpage without needing to save and upload an image file.
