This 11-building project required heavily reinforced slabs, including 7” to 8” slabs with #6 bars at 8” OC and thickened rail slabs (24” with 3 layers of #8 bars at 8” OC). Our team expertly executed these complex structural components, utilizing recessed forms to accommodate rail installations.

There were large slab on grade placements (25,000-30,000 square feet) completed via telebelt or pump due to the slab’s reinforcing requirements. The use of laser screed technology and strategic planning for the rail sections, utility pits, and trenches ensured precision and efficiency throughout the project.

Our team provided detailed line drawings to ensure alignment between architectural, structural, and PEMB drawings. They also value-engineered the project, converting approximately 80% of the cast in place bolts to D&E, resulting in significant schedule acceleration and cost savings.

The Lithko Charlotte team was tasked with placing an embedded rail in a slab-on-grade for the first time. Through extensive planning with a focus on quality, we successfully installed over 8,500 linear feet—completed ahead of schedule and with zero quality deficiencies. The phase was strategically divided into five placements:

1. Place thickened slab below sub grade
2. Place slab on grade
3. Place inside rail SOG
4. Installation of rail and post install anchors by others
5. Place grout bed
6. Place the rail pocket using SCC concrete for

This project has a 36 week schedule and our team has been able to accelerate the overall project schedule for Graycor.
