The Strongest Of Them All.

I want to ask you a quick question, please indulge me.

Tell me, who are the strongest people on earth? Who are those with the ability to face any storm and the darkness, like waves after waves, that comes crashing in? Enlighten me, who are those with the highest level of stability and strength?

Do you have an idea? Please feel free to unlock my mind from this cage of thought, but before you do, hear me out.  Continue reading “The Strongest Of Them All. “

The Right Kind Of Wrong.

Tell me, what is the first thing that comes out of our mouths when we see someone close to us in a very terrible position? Maybe a friend, a colleague, or a loved one stuck in somewhat an impossible mess, and they look to us for answers. Tell me, what are the right words to say?

You see, all it takes is the splinter of a second for people’s lives to fall to shreds, for dreams to be squashed, hope eviscerated, and hearts broken. Most times, some may not even know of the amount of shit stored in their bodies and lives, and all it requires is just one wrong moment or a piece of bad news to uncover the blind. And at this point, they look on us for the right words.  Continue reading “The Right Kind Of Wrong. “

Our Strength, Our Curse.

Have you ever been in that position where it is almost impossible to improve, not because you are being overcome by some insurmountable challenge, but rather because you know you are finally good at what you do? Or have you ever asked yourself, why bother put in all your 80% just to achieve the remaining 20%?
The truth is, it is hard to see any improvement when we finally attain the zenith of our strengths, simply because  we are already good at what we do.

When Home Is Far Away.

OMost times, I wish I could control the end of my journey,

But most times, it feels like I wander about with the wind of uncertainty.

The Sun do not always set where it journeyed from,

But unlike it, I find myself being led by the hands of a broken compass.

Who Are You?

The Sun was quite honest the other day, so it wasn’t a big surprise that the room temperature was a bit warmer than usual, and to top it all, the sea of voices that flowed all around did not help its cause. I had stepped into the crowded room, feeling a bit nervous about being surrounded by so many unfamiliar faces, but as much as I hated it, I found the urge to stay, and if I was staying, I thought, I do probably get myself lost in the myriads of strange faces. Unlike most people, I find solace in my solitude, even though close friends have begged me to explore and connect more often with people, I just find it more relaxing to observe from a distance; and here I was, not too comfortable with my surrounding, but for some other reason, I decided to stay in the midst of the crowded room, remaining anonymous, I sat all to myself.

If there is any question I am afraid of being asked, is the one a young man asked me, probably because he saw how I refrained from socializing with people around.

“Excuse me, who are you?” the young man asked, as his husky voice distorted my thoughts.

Is the grass always greener on the other side and how to overcome this syndrome?

BlackSnowflake's avatarIntrovert Haven

Since I was a child, I have been fascinated with the proverb ‘The grass is always greener on the other side’. My young, innocent mind used to wonder why people couldn’t use the time they spent in judging how much more green their neighbours’ grass was as compared to theirs in perhaps watering their own grass! When I had once mentioned this to one of my teachers at the time when we were taught this proverb, she had just answered with that condescending smirk of omniscience that adults unconsciously (or consciously) sport amongst kids and said,’You’ll find out when you get older.’ But little did she know, I had cracked the proverb already.

When I got older, I realized that the grass wasn’t always greener on the other side. It seemed greener. And that there was a big (huge, really) difference between being and seeming. We humans are a pretty…

The Sinner The Judge And The Jury.

Smoke

I got a call late last night; I can’t correctly remember what time it was, but the full moon that hung across the dark sky shone unhindered as silence reigned unperturbed. The wind blew softly as my eyes searched the entire heavens for a star, I was thinking about someone.

The buzz of my phone returned me to consciousness, just in time for me to retire to bed, prompting a big smile to hang at the corner of my lips. I was thinking about her.

Taking a brief pause, I exhaled heavily before answering the phone,

“Hey Blue, (not her real name) how are you?”

Truthfully, I was expecting a response so refreshing and soothing because this was someone I had been thinking about, but what I got made me quake in my boots as my body stiffened, causing my heart to skip a beat. Her voice was laced with heaviness, and I could sense the curly tentacles of regrets and remorse swirling around her breath as she asked me the most cryptic question I swear I  won’t ever wish to hear again.

“Enddy”, she began, “How will you feel if you find out that everything you think you knew about me had been a lie?”

Burden Of A Rose.

Taking her sit by the window, just before the Sun wakes, she produces a soothing scent, refreshing my airwaves, and gradually intoxicating my senses as she runs her soft fingers across my skin. Tenderly and calmly, she sprinkles her wetness on me, slowly wrapping her gentle petals around my fragile skin, reminding me of moments long forgotten; there is always peace in this troubled world.

And as I wake, a stare at her produces feelings inexplicable, words unworthy to be uttered from my mortal lips, and desires my heart won’t describe, but more amazing is when she stares back, silently whispering, she understands, and constantly assuring, she is my peace in this troubled world.

Time: Friend or Foe?

I was reading one of mine favorably blogs, eyesfrombehind and the writer did ask a question that anyone and everyone could easily answer without giving it much thought, but in when pondered on, we become so careful with our answers. In her original words,

In all of man’s extraordinary exploits — the advent of electricity, medicines, airplanes amongst others…we are yet to find a way to conquer, control or even contain Time. Time slips away from us, making us all its unwilling yet humble captives. Our lives depend on it, we work according to where it chooses to take us. Sometimes we don’t even have enough of it, other times it just seems to prolong its stay. We are trapped in its predictable chains, under its propelling force, and all of our desires and achievements are subject to its strong hold. We can not defeat time; its power is beyond things imaginable, the least we could do is try to manage it.

Chains.

Remembering the first day I made a conscious decision to be a writer; I wish you could have seen the inside of my head, it was lit up with crazy ideas brighter than the Fourth of July. My goodness, I made plans, like so many plans, I scribbled down ideas and practically drew the future on a piece of paper. At times, I would stay up throughout the night, conjuring plots, articles, twists and every other thing I could think of, because I wanted to be the best writer to grace this brown earth. Bought a lot of diaries, created an impressive catalog of what I wanted to achieve, had a timetable I was willing to work with, spent most of my time in solitude, and denied myself some comforts. I did all these because I felt it was what I was meant to do; inspire the world with my pen and paper.

But something happened to me.  Continue reading “Chains. “
