100 things

I think I'm going to be posting on LJ again, just because I really want to participate in the 100 Things Challenge:

{Take the 100 Things challenge!}

Doesn't that sound cool?

I'm going to write on the topic of "100 Things I'm Doing To Live Cheaply Without Feeling Poor". I've always perused "frugal living" sites, but while I'm getting my company off the ground and business is slow, I've had time to go after them with more gusto. As always, I'm bewildered by some people's ideas of what "frugal living" is, like this guy who recommends I get rid of my second car, downsize my house, and cancel the cable and cell. Since I don't own a car, or a house, or a cellphone, or a television, and buy everything second-hand already, his suggestions are pretty useless -- and I'm not about to cut my own hair!

So I've decided to try to write about how someone who already lives like a pauper (at least by this guy's definition) can still take steps to live more simply... without sacrificing my quality of life. I'm not going to go all Earth Mother and grow all my own food -- been there, done that, never again -- but hopefully I can test out and share some things that might be useful to others, while documenting my own experience.

So that's the goal. We shall see how it goes.

ETA: I was going to make these entries open, but then realised I'll be sharing some personal information that I'm not comfortable putting onto the interwebz-at-large. So if you're interested in these posts, I'll need to friend you.
All my love for these guys? It has reached new heights of insanity with the utter fabulousness that is this video.

Also, apparently the way I say "Verbotene Liebe" sounds like "Forbidden Liver." *mad cackles*

Completely speechless...

...so I'll borrow someone else's words: "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single girl in possession of a large bandwidth must be in want of German pseudo-porn starring a pair of gay ice skaters. And if Internet legend holds, every time a new subscription is added to Eskimo Kiss Project, somewhere in the world a fangirl gets her wings."

This is the most fabulous fandom in the entire world! *loves all of you to bits*

P.S. In other news of sparkly awesomeness, I am figuring out a new vidding program and also just made my first DVD with menus. Technology, ye shall be conquered yet!

LOOK LOOK LOOK!

Last night, EskimoKissProject got its 2000th subscription!! It took six months to get to 1000 subscribers, and just three months to double that. CRAZYSKATES! (Doesn't hurt one bit that the show is all kinds of awesome these days.)

And if that wasn't enough, we just launched our Alles was zählt fansite.

Behold its wondrous sparkle!!! It's got all sorts of stuff: HQ downloads of our subtitled clips, interviews with cast members, links to all our fanvids and fics ... basically we just wanted to be an English-language resource for fans who love the show but can't do much more than curse in German.

More website stuffCollapse )

As icing on the cake, our Trio Infernale was just interviewed! EKP's going to be featured in a blogger's post on gay relationships on European TV. I'm seriously giggling over this one.

Added to that is some behind-the-scenes squeefulness that makes EKP just the best thing ever. Honestly, my icon says it all!!

MERLIN BIG BANG: Flesh and Blood Dance

Title: Flesh and Blood Dance
Creators: Words by lilithilien, art by chosenfire28, video by mamoru22
Rating/Word Count: R / 58,500 words
Pairings: Merlin/Arthur, Merlin/Tony, Bradley/Colin, Nimueh/Morgana
Summary: The 21st century is still a land of myth and a time of magic. The spells and enchantments that Uther banished are gone, but myths and magic live on, conjured on screens large and small with scripts and CGI. But one day, inspired by boredom and not a little mischief, an entertainment mogul (who just happens to be an ex-evil sorceress) decides it might be a lark to tell the Arthurian legend—as it really happened. It's just a little BBC series, just something to amuse herself (and annoy Merlin, of course). But when they awaken the Old Ways, not even the greatest Seer of all can foretell what awaits them. This is a story of destiny and choices, about what happens when sorcerers and kings collide with actors and beasts, and just how bad morning breath would be after a 1500-year sleep.

Home again, home again, jiggedy jog

I'm in!

You know, after the inefficiency of, oh, EVERYTHING in the Dominican Republic, I'm awestruck by how quickly stuff gets done here in Canada. Cable Guy was coming to hook up Internet between 8-11 -- he's been and gone. Movers are supposed to start at noon -- but I let them know I was done early with the other apt, and they're going to try to get here early. So other than getting the truck struck in a snowbank in my new parking spot (*grumblegrumble*) things are moving along perfectly.

I've got some time to kill while waiting for the movers, so hey, picspam! Come on in, but make sure you leave your muddy boots at the door.

More than you ever wanted to know about my new apt.Collapse )

Hi! I am interested in reading these posts. You don't know me, but I feel like we're in a pretty similar situation financially and I'm really interested to hear what kind of things I could do to save…
