Information Literacy Instruction: Helping Students Think Critically About Research & Information
The reference & instruction librarians at the Lee and Jim Vann Library are available to come to your class for information literacy instruction. Information literacy instruction promotes critical thinking and life-long learning by:
- Introducing students to the fundamentals of research with an emphasis on finding credible, scholarly sources
- Tailoring instruction to meet the specific needs of each class and/or assignment
- Helping students learn how to evaluate information sources for currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose
- Teaching students about academic integrity, proper citation, and scholarship
- Encouraging students to reach out to a librarian for help with finding, evaluating, and citing sources
