What makes our books unique?
InitiaLit Readers
These delightful and engaging follow the InitiaLit phonic sequence to help students build confidence in decoding skills and reading fluency.
Every title includes instructions and pre- and post-reading activities to help teachers, parents and caregivers use the books effectively. Titles are numbered based on the difficulty level of each book. They are designed to be read sequentially, allowing children to gain confidence and skills level by level.
One reader in each level is a Shared Reader, allowing an adult to provide extra support by reading together with a child (alternating pages). Shared Readers allow for the introduction of more complex words that adults can help children learn, understand and add to their vocabulary.
Mopoke Readers
Mopoke Readers are transitional readers to help children progress from decodable books to natural language text.
These readers, for students in Year 2 and above, provide general reading practice. By this stage, children will have received instruction in the alphabetic code. Mopoke Readers provide further opportunities for children to develop their reading fluency and apply comprehension strategies.
Among the Mopoke fiction books are everyday mysteries, animal antics and schoolyard stories, while non-fiction titles cover topics such as Antarctica, the Moon, games of times past and Marie Curie’s fascinating life.

Firecracker Books
Firecracker Books aim to spark the interest of older students in reading by providing engaging and accessible books at an appropriate level of difficulty.
Fiction titles combine relatable stories with appealing illustrations. Each fiction book includes questions at the end to encourage further discussion and deepen comprehension.
Non-fiction titles in The Ignite Series cover topics such as fascinating animals, incredible inventions, ancient civilisations, crazy plants and extreme sports. The books include glossaries for definition of unfamiliar terms, and quick quizzes for students to test their knowledge.
