Research: I-Share & Interlibrary Loan

A guide to starting your research, finding sources, citations, and additional collections

I-Share & Interlibrary Loan

Can't find what you need at the JJC Library? No problem!

JJC Library offers two services for accessing materials not available in its collection: I-Share and Interlibrary Loan. I-Share allows you to search 70+ member institutions' collections for physical items like books or DVDs. If you need an article, or an item isn't available through I-Share, use the WorldShare Interlibrary Loan Request Form instead.

How to Use I-Share

JJC students, faculty, and staff may locate and borrow items from other I-Share libraries. I-Share’s reciprocal borrowing policy also allows borrowing items on site at any of the 90+ I-Share libraries in Illinois.

How to Find & Request a Book Using I-Share

  • First, search the Discovery Tool (search bar on the library homepage) for the item.

  • If the item is not available at JJC, select "All I-Share Libraries" instead of "Everything" in the drop down menu on the right side of the search bar. Or, follow this link to search all I-Share libraries: I-Share.

Arrow pointing to the drop-down option "All I-Share Libraries"

  • Once you've located the item, select the item record and scroll down to "How to get it." From there, select "Request from I-Share."

Arrow pointing to the "How to get it" section of the item record

  • A form prefilled with the item information will pop up. Choose your preferred pick up location from the last drop down.
  • Click "Send Request."

Please note that you must be signed into your library account in order to request items through I-Share.
