Importing your pre-built templates into ProjectManager is easy! Follow the below steps to import your favorite templates in just a few clicks.
Tip: If you're importing an MS Project, Excel or CSV file, make sure to download the "import guidelines" that appear in the pop-up for additional information.
Importing Your Templates
You can import a project template when you create a new project, or from within the Gantt view of an existing project.
Import when creating a new project
Simply click the 'Import File' option.
Import from within the Gantt
Use the import icon from the Gantt ribbon, in an existing project.
The 'Import a Project' pop-up will display. Ensure to download and read our import guidelines available on the pop-up, then 'Select File' to continue through the process, guided by prompts.
Note the option to either import into a 'new project' or an 'existing project', before continuing to import your template file.
Our software will automatically detect a header row by default.
If your template includes assignees who are not currently users in your account, you will be prompted during the process to add them, by assigning a role and entering their email address.
ProjectManager currently supports file uploads from MS Project, XML, Excel and CSV.
It's as easy as that! You can now save your imported project as a template and use it as many times as you'd like. For more information on our other types of templates, visit our templates overview page.
FAQs
Q: Is there a limit to how many outside templates I can upload?
A: There's no limit to the number of outside templates that you can upload, other than your edition project limit. Feel free to use as many or as few as you'd like.
Q: Do you support any other type of file uploads at this time?
A: As of now, the only templates that you can upload are from Microsoft Project, XML, Excel and CSV. We will let you know if this changes in the future.
Q: Who will have access to the templates that I upload?
A: As soon as you've uploaded a template into a project, those who you add as project members will have access to the template.
