Repose

Sunshine hides, clouds reign –
Leaves and branches bow under
Fall rain’s tranquil mood

Summer’s End

Upon the breeze,
The scent of rain, refreshing, new.
Upon the breeze,
Sounds of lost laughter stir the trees.
I just notice something else too.
Summer storm brings the scent of you,
Upon the breeze.

Night Play

Leftover raindrops play on windowpanes, refracting morning sunbeams; evidence of nature’s overnight shenanigans.

Rain & Humidity

The rain was welcome though it did nothing to fight the heat. The thick humid air was suffocating. I stood on the porch and drops of sweat pooled drenching me, while I watched raindrops gather on flower petals.

Raindrops

Afternoon showers
Soak the sizzling hot sidewalk
Glistening drops cool

Art Imitates Life

Rivers of regret run like relentless rain,

Persistently pouring past pain out onto the page.

Red with rage from the realization that the rejection of reality is not rational.

Temper turns to tired tears that trail and tangle with the tale I’ve penned,

A failed father, a fickle friend, a family fallen apart from within.

Drowning in a deluge of darkness, dumbfounded, I discover the destination.

This crucial chapter comes to a close.
