Epic Fail

My glass is sweating
And so am I
It’s hot as, well
You know,
This 4th of July
Southern summers,
It’s hard to beat the heat
So I’ll sit my bare bottom on this
Frozen seat

Mistakes were made-
Ice is nice in my tea
But a block of ice
To cool down my tail
Is not risk-free
Take it from me
And my cold ass cheeks
Now adhered to this chilly chair,
Not all ideas are created equal
Or good for one’s derriere

The prompt is “cold ass cheeks” from Maria Giesbrecht @theguelphpoet on Instagram. April 14, National Poetry Month 2022.

Hot

It’s hot as hell out here.
Someone lit a fire under this sphere.
I’m boiling like a lobstah in a paht.
Man, that’s hot!

Rain & Humidity

The rain was welcome though it did nothing to fight the heat. The thick humid air was suffocating. I stood on the porch and drops of sweat pooled drenching me, while I watched raindrops gather on flower petals.

A Change Is In The Air

Cool crisp gentle breeze
Morning and evening signs Fall
Against harsh noon heat

First World Problems

Growling and grumbling
Disturbing the peace
Loud and obnoxious a/c
It’s the sacrifice to beat the heat

Heatwave

Heat sings from pavement
Doused with mid-day summer sun
Flowers bask nearby
