This is my privilege, being Chairman of the Department of Law, Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) to introduce my department with all of you, the enthusiast bunch to assist you in taking right decision regarding choosing department and university. Department of Law, GUB aims at removing jural ignorance by providing legal education to the students who will spread their knowledge to others by various means, as there is a well-known principle ‘Ignorantia juris non excusat’ (Ignorance of law excuses no one). Hence, the vision of the department is to create proficient law graduates and foster socio-legal research to evolve an ideal legal system by ensuring rule of law, human dignity and social justice. Having established in 2003 with 4-year LL B(Hons) programme and 1-year LL M programme, the department has already made outstanding contribution in nation building by catering equipped law graduates.

As teaching-learning methodology at tertiary level has tremendously been shifted towards ‘Outcome-Based Education (OBE)’ curriculum, keeping this trend in mind, our programme curriculum has also been modified in furtherance of our commitment to ensure legal knowledge and skills for the students to triumphantly face the challenges of 21st century.

To accelerate the vision, we have accumulated a bunch of exceptionally educated as well as devout faculty members. Their legal expertise and research publications concentrate on divergent areas of law and thereby contribute for building a finer society.
In the present context of the globalization, collaboration with overseas universities is indispensable. Hence, we have formed strong academic and research collaboration with universities of USA, UK, Germany, China, Malaysia and India. We have future plans to expand our horizon in this regard.

This is our pleasure to share with you that Department of Law, GUB has established country’s one and only ‘Centre for Air and Space Law’ to promote research on aviation and space sector of the country. We are diligently working to transform this Centre as a ‘Regional Hub’ for ‘International Legal Research on Air and Space’. We have already organized 02 (two) International Conferences on Air and Space Law in 2018 and 2019 consecutively and this Centre offers an ‘International Scholarship’ titled ‘Stephan Hobe Scholarship’ to the GUB LL M students.
