Because awesomeness on this level deserves to be reposted everywhere: KIRK/SPOCK ON A BOAT!
Fri, May. 22nd, 2009, 06:37 pm Oh hey thar!
So yeah, I'm still alive. The main reason I haven't been posting is because I'm feeling guilty over not having accomplished much of anything since graduating last August. While technically I've been looking for a job, my choices are pretty limited (Greenville and Commerce) until I manage to get my driver's license (yeah, yeah, I know). I did apply for an entry-level thing at Raytheon (defense contractor my dad works for), but I never got called back for an interview. The position wasn't really interesting to me, but it was something my dad had heard about from the person doing the hiring for it, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I haven't been able to find much since then. Either people want job experience or specialties I don't have...at least for local stuff. I've seen plenty of good jobs farther away, heh. I turned 27 on May 1st. I don't feel like I should be that old yet. I've been updating on Twitter slightly more regularly than on LJ, probably because it takes less time and most of the things I want to post don't require much space. My brother and I finished Buffy a couple days ago. We've still got the last season of Angel to watch, but I'm kinda sad over it regardless. Though now we can go back and watch the commentaries/special features without fear of spoilers, heh. So many completely amazing episodes scattered throughout that series though. The Lost finale was completely evil, the Office finale was hilarious and heartwarming, House was pretty good, and I'm waiting until 24 is over to finish it off. The second half of the Dollhouse season was great -- definitely check it out if you gave up during the first five episodes -- and I'm glad to hear it was picked up for the fall. We have the first season of BSG also, but haven't gotten around to watching past the first episode. Listening to the new Amorphis for the first time right now, enjoying it so far, but I think I still like Silent Waters better. That album is so catchy. Currently reading Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, about halfway through and enjoying it. Mostly I just wish George R.R. Martin would finish the next Song of Ice and Fire book, dammit. Still playing WoW, mostly for the three nights of raiding a week (pretty much the only fun thing in the game for me anymore) and keeping in touch with friends, more than anything else. Working through Professor Layton and the second Phoenix Wright game, both are great. Think that's about it for now. Yeah, I really am just that boring, haha.

Grabbed from eiluned. "The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed." 1) Look at the list and bold those you have read. 2) Italicize those you intend to read. 3) Underline the books you LOVE. [I'm also adding: strikethrough the ones you HATED] 4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-) ( 15/100Collapse )3/4 of the way through A Feast for Crows now, maybe I'll start one of these after I finish it. Finally discovered how awesome Moonsorrow is. I've had a couple things by them for a long time now, but must've not been paying attention at all in previous listens. Great melodies and atmosphere. Made a 94 on the first of two major speeches, which is good since each one is 25% of the final grade. Pretty sure I can make at least a B in the class now, maybe an A. Which still seems kind of ironic, considering how quiet I am normally, haha. In WoW news, arena season 4 started yesterday, so I finally replaced my last blue with the season 2 offhand. Latro's is way better for combat swords than it has any right to be, but I was getting tired of all the "why u using a blue swrod in ur offhand? lololololtard" comments from random people. Need to register with the university's Career Services department soon, 'cause I'll probably need all the help I can get finding a job this fall, heh.

Since I obviously need more things to waste my time on, I signed up for Twitter. valfather is the username, feel free to follow me. Taking speech and weight training during Summer I, both are going okay so far. I'm almost sort of enjoying speech, which is pretty surprising. It's a really small class (6 people) so we get shorter class times and less pressure since we're not talking to a huge group. Weight training is a lot more work with this instructor than the one I took it with before (had to drop partway through 'cause of too many absences, heh)...'bout halfway through the class now, and I'm not getting as tired/sore after each class as I was at first. I applied for graduation the week before last. Just these two classes and a psych class in Summer II with the easiest professor I've had in the entire university and I'm done. I'm not sure whether that's really sunk in yet or not, heh. Slowly working through the first Phoenix Wright game...I think I'm nearing the end of Case 3. I love it...makes me wish I had more DS games though. Also slowly working through A Feast of Crows by George R.R. Martin. I wish he had included all the characters in this half of the book, only a couple of my favorites are in this one. New Opeth, Keep of Kalessin, and Stormlord albums are completely excellent.
A few things: - I suck at updating. - Started my next to last semester of college last week, everything's going well so far. - I was made rogue class captain in my WoW guild a month or so ago. We had over 400 members before clearing out some inactive accounts recently, down to 365 now. As much as anything can be an accomplishment in an online video game, that was one. - Deathspell Omega is an amazing band. - Crash is a great movie...just watched it again last night for an online class. I don't have much else for now.

I'm not sure if it's just the lack of sleep or if this really is one of the funniest things I've read this week, but...from the Wikipedia article on the Serial comma: " The Times once published a description of a Peter Ustinov documentary: 'highlights of his global tour include encounters with Nelson Mandela, an 800-year-old demigod and a dildo collector.'" Hahahahahahahahaha...
This was posted on one of the places I acquire music from and I thought it was interesting enough to share. Tonedeaf TestRhythmdeaf TestAdaptive Pitch TestI got 75% the first time I took the tonedeaf test, 64% on the rhythmdeaf test, and 2.1 Hz on the adaptive tone test. Repeat attempts boosted my score, but they don't count. Back in WoW for the summer...I am weak, only made it a little over two weeks. Just long enough to finish exams, heh. It's a good thing I don't drink, 'cause if my WoW addiction is any indication, I would end up a raging alcoholic. Been playing the new Lake of Tears album a lot lately, great stuff.
