About LA Climate Week

LA Climate Week is a year-round, community-powered movement culminating April 8–15, 2026, uniting organizations, neighborhoods, industries, and institutions across the Los Angeles region to design our climate future, together.

mission & Vision

We envision a Los Angeles region where climate action is visible, culturally embedded, and shaped by the people who live here—where neighbors, institutions, and industries see themselves as part of building a just, regenerative, and hopeful climate future.

LA Climate Week connects and amplifies climate work happening throughout the year across the Los Angeles region, bringing it into a shared week of visibility, learning, and collaboration. By highlighting local solutions, fostering cross-sector relationships, and grounding climate in everyday life, we make participation more accessible and strengthen collective momentum toward a resilient future.

Our Story

LA Climate Week grew out of a recognition that Los Angeles—one of the most climate-impacted and culturally influential regions in the world—had an opportunity to bring greater visibility and connection to the climate work already happening across the region. As global cities created their own climate weeks and international sporting events like the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games approached, a grassroots group of colleagues saw a window of time to elevate climate action in Los Angeles.

The first LA Climate Week was hosted in 2024. Rather than building a centralized conference or directing the work of others, Los Angeles Climate Week was designed to connect and amplify efforts already underway—local organizations, educators, creatives, faith leaders, businesses, and neighbors—into a shared week of visibility and exchange.

The goal was not to start from scratch, but to help Angelenos see the full picture of climate solutions already in motion—and discover where they fit.

WHY LA

Where culture, climate reality, and imagination converge.

A Cultural Force

Los Angeles shapes global culture — from film and music to design and digital media. Ideas born here travel far beyond city limits.

A Climate Reality

Wildfire, drought, extreme heat, and air quality are not distant threats. Climate impacts are lived experiences across the region.

A CIVIC CROSSROADS

With global events on the horizon, including the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Los Angeles has a rare opportunity to demonstrate climate leadership on a world stage.

A Region of possibility

From grassroots organizers to major institutions, climate solutions are already taking shape across neighborhoods, industries, and communities.

Our Values & Approach

LA Climate Week takes a campaign-style approach focused on visibility, participation, and shared learning.

Action Forward

Emphasizing what people can do and experience, not what they need to identify as

Local & Human

Framing climate through neighborhoods, lived experience, and daily life

Inclusive by Design

Centering frontline knowledge while welcoming broad participation

Solutions Oriented

Highlighting what’s working, what’s possible, and how efforts connect

Non-extractive

Amplifying and supporting existing work rather than competing with it

Our role is to help climate action feel less distant and more connected—to people, place, and possibility.

How We’re Leading

LA Climate Week is guided by a shared leadership model designed to support the year-round collaboration that makes the week possible. A Steering Committee provides coordination and alignment, while Working Groups lead specific areas such as programming, partnerships, communications, logistics, and evaluation.

Decision-making is distributed and grounded in trust. Rather than centralizing authority, this structure is designed to support organizers, contributors, and ideas—making it easier for people to participate meaningfully and for work to move from concept to action.

This approach helps LA Climate Week remain responsive, community-driven, and rooted in the realities of Los Angeles.
