Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Bridgette L. Walker Bridgette Walker assumed the role of Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. in August 2024, having previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Phnom Penh, Cambodia since July 2023. Prior to her arrival in Cambodia, Ms. Walker was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Her earlier assignments included Acting Deputy Chief of Mission and Political Section Chief at U.S. Embassy Baku, Azerbaijan; Director of the American Center at the U.S. Consulate in Alexandria, Egypt; political officer at U.S. Embassy Beirut, Lebanon, and consular and economic officer at U.S. Embassy Jakarta, Indonesia. At the Department of State in Washington, DC, Ms. Walker was the Acting Deputy Director for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs; the senior desk officer for Indonesia in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs; and completed an assignment in the Intelligence and Research bureau.

Ms. Walker is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. She graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval War College in June 2020 with a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies. She also holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. She has studied Russian, Tajiki, Azerbaijani, Arabic, Indonesian, and Japanese languages. Prior to the joining the Department of State in 2002, Ms. Walker worked as a staff aide in the U.S. Senate and as a corporate accountant in the private sector. She is a native of Hyattsville, Maryland and is married to a retired U.S. Army officer.
