Don’t Ask Me If I Remember You

Don't Ask Me If I Remember You, a poem about love and betrayal, joys of joel rhyming poems
Don’t Ask Me If I Remember You – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

“Hello,
do you remember me?
I’m back in town.”

I hear you
on the other line
while i see
the postman
outside the window.

The postcards
you sent on time
The letters
i dared to hide

“Hey i’m back in town,
you still remember me?”

I couldn’t
dare to speak
while i stare
at the angel
in my bed

“Hey, im back in town
you still remember me?”

I put the phone down
because
i remember you
all the time.

Don’t Tell Me You Know Me – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

I count the syllables
to create a haiku

I created a rhyme
to write a poetry

I write my thoughts
so you’ll remember me

You remember my words,
but not my story

You touch
but never hold my hand

You sing
but never invited me to dance

Because you say
i knew you knew
who i am

How could it be
if you never understand
my story?

The Vow , A Dietary Tale

the vow, a dietray tale, losing weight, joys of joel poems, poem about food and dieting
The Vow, A Dietary Tale – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

Lead me not into temptation
Calories and indigestion

Don’t know how
To follow my vow

And leave my kitchen tribulations.

You’ll never grow if you never change.  Not all growths i gladly welcome.

And if change is all i want,  i don’t want to grow those belly bulge and gain extra weight.

Yes, there is something constant with me every year and it happens every end of december.

My new year’s resolution has never change.  Lose weight,  start to diet and achieve that “to die for” gorgeous body.

And just like all those beautifui things that are not meant to stay,  i’ll just say goodbye to 2016 and start the year with a big bang of chocolate roll and a cup of ice cream, yes not a scoop but a full cup welcoming the new year with a sweet taste and a memorable fireworks of hope and joys to be filled.

So how do you look at the things you love and tell yourself it’s time to walk away?   Just remember this:

Making excuses is a talent,
Giving in to temptation is an art
and resisting it must be one hell of a skill.

And if you’re not that skillful,  no worries,  you’re still a talented artist.   🙂

Happy New Year and may our 2017 be filled with love and irresistible temptations we joyfully indulge in.

By the way i would like to end this year by thanking Bea for nominating me for Versatile Blogger Award.

Sleigh Bells Ring, Are You Listening

a christmas story by joys of joel, sleigh bells ring are you listening, reflections on christmas time, joys of jole poem
Sleigh Bells Ring, are You Listening – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

I see the christmas lights and hear the yuletide carols.  I remember hiding under the mistletoe. The yesteryears of waiting for santa, expecting a gift eventhough i’ve been naughty, not nice.

I opened the beautifully wrapped gifts.  In excitement i ignore the intricate wrappings. I barely acknowledge the efforts taken in covering the precious presents. Sometimes i forget to give thanks not just for the gifts but for its beautiful wrappings.

Oh, christmas is just around the corner.  A time to be jolly and sleigh rides.  But what happens when Santa’s reindeers are missing because their antlers are used for decorating?  And yes when the sleigh bells started ringing, are you really listening or just hearing?

Although i admit i don’t live in winter wonderland, it doesn’t mean i can’t feel the cold snow and its breeze. But the happy lights of yuletide lanterns and strangers’ smiling faces can make me say,  indeed it’s a beautiful happy sight.

One need  not wait for christmas day,  loving and sharing is not just for a day.  It’s all year through for someone with a giving and grateful heart.   But every year,  i don’t know why i am more kind,  when the christmas bells are starting to chime.

Pointless – https://joysofjoel.wordpress.com/

No need to shout to prove your clout.
Respect begets respect.

No need to interject who is the best,
to slash the wrist and still insist.

Amidst the ‘holler and all the tries,
it’s always better to be polite,

than show the might of a brilliant mind,
yet cut the ties that bind your life.
