Since the beginning of twenty-first century, the arena of Media Communication and Journalism is expanding by leaps and bounds. The growth of new media technology has brought a quantum leap in the media world due to the volume and speed of information flows worldwide. The media industry in Bangladesh has also followed the footmark of the world media phenomenon resulting in a growing need of producing highly skilled media graduates to address the requirements.

Considering the demand of quality human resources in the media profession, the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC) started its journey. The JMC Department, as a center of excellence in this arena, is committed to develop skilled human resources for journalism, media and communication sectors providing quality education, training and research. This department also aims to develop an engaged and well-informed community that critically understand, practice and explore journalism, media and communication in a diverse and global society. From the very beginning, our learners can contribute in student professional performance. We want to bridge the dreams of our students with the slogan “Live your dream ….through JMC of Green” by shaping this department as a powerhouse of journalism and media communication institution.

Our syllabus for BSS (Honors) in Journalism and Media Communication focuses on Journalism, Multimedia Journalism, Television, Radio and film sectors embracing the diverse arena of inclusive education incorporating art, culture and literature which enable a student to gain critical perspective and marketplace knowledge and become a reflective, engaged citizen in our contemporary world.

Besides, the department has taken initiatives to endorse several Certificate Courses to meet the demand of skilled workforce for the fast-expanding media industries in Bangladesh. Students of the courses enjoy the opportunity to develop their skills and gather valuable experiences by learning & working with notable journalists, news & program presenters, radio jockeys, filmmakers and artistes.
